[QUOTE="BioShockOwnz"]Excellent game. If true, Sony fans will have something good to play.0bscurity

Mass Effect is garbage.

not really. You use those comments for game that are actually garbage. You know like Bomberman 360, Hour of Victory, Wii Play, Lair, and Haze.

Mass Effect is garbage.

No Jade Empire is:P

Well thinking about it, JE is almost AAA quality, enjoyed it loads but the story right towards the last few encounters got a little messy

Take that back. JE isn't garbage. However is is the most linear Bioware game I ever played.

It gave you a lot of choice still and i loved how the sidequests didnt feel tacked as they flow smoothly with the main story

Unfortunately, the game was just too shallow, it wasnt short by any means but heck, it had a lot of backtracking

Hmm as logical as it sounds since it's EA but I would wait until the official word. But the article did bring up a point that kinda affects the rumor. How are the PS3 players gonna know the backstory to Mass Effect 2? It's like starting Shenmue II when you never played Shenmue. :|

A_zombie

It's funny you mention Shenmue, did you not remember your own answer?( and TC, take notice).

Shenmue came with a Bonus DVD telling the story of Shenmue 1, to get gamers up to speed. It's only one way to do it, but is possible.

Paying that much and Owning BioWare, but not being able to make more money from them is useless, so obviously EA has a plan. Whether that plan emcompasses Bioware though, is anyone's guess.

To those asking if Bioware ever made a game for the playstation (yes they did), I ask another question. Has Bioware ever been owned by EA? Just because a company has never made a game for x platform doesn't mean it will never do it, especially when it has been bought.

Also, it doesn't have to be Bioware to make the port, the same genius team that ported OB could be doing it right now. Maybe that's why they won't be porting L4D. But this is all iddle speculation to keep us entertained in SW.

The original article is poorly worded. It is really about Mass Effect 2/3/4/.../695.

It is not about Mass Effect 1.

The author uses Mass Effect when speaking about the future of the franchise. Will Mass Effect go multiconsole? The author means: will future versions go multiconsole? He isn't talking about ME 1, which is why he writes the hoopla about how would new PS3 owners understand ME 2 without the backstory of ME 1?

ME 1 is published by MS. It says so right on the cover :) That won't be going to the PS3.

But the sequels? Good chance they will be multiconsole....but we don't know if MS retained publishing rights.

yup I remember that. Fortunately I actually played it myself. However EA not bringing ME will not cost them money because most likely MS will pay the difference to keep it on the 360. Also based on Bioware track record with technical issues and them using the UE3 will only cause poblems for teh PS3 version.

While, it's true that Bioware isn't really known for non-PC type hardware, EA is a multiplatform developer, with the idea that making money on all system's is the best stratagy. They aren't going to allow Bioware to be finicky with things like that.EA isn't going to let Bioware continue to only make 360 products forever, that makes no sense. Besides, Unreal 3 is on the PS3 and it looks great. The PS3 is much easier to develop on than the PS2, which had a ton of games. With the recent improvements in PS3 development, it's only going to get easier.

Also, I bought Shenmue 1 & 2 on Dreamcast, to support Sega...then bought Shemue 2 on Xbox to see if I could get Sega to make a third Shenmue. Oh well.

Great game now? wasnt the game a flop and all cows can play it on their high end PCs?MojondeVACA

I thought Microsoft owned some of the rights to Mass Effect? Not sure. I have seen Bioware devs say it wouldnt be coming to the PS3, though. Plus, I promise the game will sell more than 2 million in its first week, if not its first DAY for Mass Effect 2.

You don't understand. if they struggled with the 360 the PS3 is going to be a nightmare. The frame rate the pop ins where all over the place.

According to old threads regarding BioShock, any game that is on PC, can be played by PS3 owners, so, who cares about Mass Effect 1 on PS3 when they can play them on their PC's?

NO, I understand. It's a technical hurdle, but one that must be overcome with their future IPs, now that EA owns them. It's the nature of the beast. Whether ME comes over, is up to the parties involved, but Bioware is just going to have to accept that they aren't a 360 dev when EA bought them.

Activision acquired Guitar Hero, and they immediately put GH on 360, Wii, PS3, DS, etc. That's how you make the money. EA is trying to catch Activision, and they aren't going to let Bioware DICTATE to them what they are going to do. That's why they bought them, EA has something inmind. Either way, this is going to be a new Bioware.

"With mass effect selling only 2 million copies on the 360"

Lmao, only 2 million?

Have bioware actually ever made a game on a sony console?

scottiescott238

I was scanning the thread to see if anybody caught that. LOL.

ONLY 2 million? That's a number most developers would kill to get for a brand new IP.

It's certainly a possibility. Bioware was exploring the possibility of developing for the PS3 pre-Mass Effect, and an ME port would be a great way for them to work with the PS3 without having to worry about (major) costs or delays. But on the other hand Bioware has so many different projects on the table (Dragons Age, KOTOR MMO, Mass Effect 2, and at least 1 unannouced title) that it could be hard for them to justify using the resources with ME2 about a year away from release.

I can see it happening at some point, but I don't really care as long as I get Mass Effect 2 for the 360 soon :)

The first Mass Effect is my favourite game of the gen so far.
