Even thinking about this place makes me feel as though my mind has been expanded

It looks soooo amazing, the colours, the architecture, the history of it (being Millenia years old)

and when you know the backstory of Illos it makes it even more overpowering, its such an emotional place filed with one of the saddest stories in gaming

illos

what d'ya reckon? Did you connect with it like I did?

Unfortunately, no I didnt connect with it in the same way. I know the feeling you speak of, but illos did not grant that feeling.

playing them for about 20 years, and pretty much every AAA game released in the past 15 years

Okami was also a very emotional story being another example

Yeah I loved Illos, it felt completely alien and given everything the propheans did even at the end of their time it was quite a powerful build up to the final scene (with some great revalations).

Also I can't see how anybody thay actually played it would call it a level... yes you.

yeah but listening to Vigil matches it

but your opinion doesnt hold much credence to me in all honesty

SPOILERS!!!!!!!!

if hearing in intimate detail the prolonged (what was it over 100's of years?) and systematic extermination of an entire galactic race which such a rich cultural history isnt emotional to you then your opinion on my view of illos doesnt matter to me

well not anyone who has Cloud as their avatar anyway

Nope. Most of the planets/areas in ME dont connect with me since most is just rocks or silver and blue hallways. The people are the only things that connect with me. Also saddist stories? Yea I dont agree at all. Its basicly hey they died here. I didint know anyone who died so theres no weight. ME in geniral never made me feel sad. Its just more hey that was pretty cool or thats a bit messed up.

Well your opinion doesn't hold much credence to me in all honesty too. Judging someone by there avatar. Very good way of doing things. I've been gaming just as long as you sir. So I guess your opinion doesn't matter to me either. Well not anyone with Dexter in there signature.

I will say I liked the place but really not THAT great and definitely not saddest stories in gaming.

this might be personal but I have a hard time (tho not impossible) to feel sad if I know nothing at all about the people that it effect, the closes thing I have to go with is the current races and if they acted like them they almost deserv to lose.

The location that the second half of Liar of the Shadow Broker takes place in (that shall remain nameless in the sake of spoilers) > Ilos

True Story

Illos is the only environment in the Mass Effect universe that doesn't come of annoyingly unnatural to me and actually felt like an environment. Shame Bioware can't actually achieve the atmosphere/immersion with their level design that they aspire to.

Personally I thought Ilium was a lot more awe inspiring, when I think of ME2 I think of Ilium and how immersed I felt.

I found most of Uncharted 2 more impressive to be honest. They did a really good job on making certain locations feel truly epic. Illos never really impressed me, overall though ME1 failed to impress me visually.

yes thats why the colour scheme and the backstory made it so amazing, the warm hues of green and red, the in-animate statues of The Protheans, the huge pillars stretching into iron filled atmopshere, the bunker to which they met their slow and agonising doom, I loved it

I got the same feeling when I had finished watching Inception or 2001, or Blade Runner..my mind feels as though it has been expanded
