gamers shouldnt support such crap like this.Tjeremiah1988

gameres enjoy games and crap but when it comes down to it everyone human if they can get stuff for free they will take it. no matter how bad it is its unfortunate but thats how the world is. i admit i would rather get a free ps3 game,360 or wii game then to pay for it.

There are already pirated PS3 titles in Indonesia, and that's even old news.

Every console has tons of loyal supporters, but there are always people that'll also go for piracy, no matter which platform they own.

Nightflash28

All 3 systems have already been modded and pirated. PS3 has opened_source O/S. Pirates are able to load whatever they want onto that systems and configure the software anyway they want. They've probably already fixed the B/C for the PS3 and have Mame and everything else playing on it. lol!! This is nothing new. Every system from the PS1, PS2 to the Gamecube & XBox has been pirated and modded over the years. Why is this even a surprise to anyone? XBox 360 is the least selling system in the Asia market, so they will lose the least overall.

[QUOTE="Decko5"]the xbox had a huge modding community they did amazing things.Chofee

Exactly, and thats the fact lots of ppl here fail to realize.. The modding community actually boosted xbox sales quite alot and they alone kept the console alive.. Xbox would have probably failed if it wasn't moddable..

Not only that, the modding community for the first Xbox introduced MAJOR things that clearly benefited Microsoft greatly. Some ideas were obviously incorporated to the Xbox 360.

[QUOTE="E M I N 3 M"]PS3 games were up on the net 2 weeks after it released. The reason why it's not 'huge' is because currently you can only play them on your HDD on PS3. Both BR & HD-DVD have been pirated now, so its only a matter of time before someone makes a program to rip the games. BR burners are also quite expensive...but that will change by the end of the year! E M I N 3 M

DVD burners cost $25...

It will take 10 years for BR writers to reach this pricepoint...

My first Pioneer 1x DVD burner cost me $300 way back when. lol Aren't Pioneer BR burners like $450 now? Once they drop $100-200 im good to go :P

Sorry but you are exaggerating. PS3 piracy won't even be significant until 2009 onwards. Simply because a) Blu-ray is not an dominant format like DVD was. PS2 wasn't pirated that much during it's first few years, it was only until they released Swap Magic when people started doing it, but by then PS2 had already been an immensily sucessful console so it didn't hurt developers that much. It only helped PS2 become the best selling console of all time.

Massive Blow for 360 & Wii. Checkout the link. MS is losing money because of this and if the 360 does fall it will because of piracy. At least the Wii have tonnes of loyal supporters. PS3 I doubt they will pirate tht

$50 difference from what i said? C'mon now....Like i said, by the end of the year it will be $300 and then i'll buy one, like lots of people will. And to the other poster talking about PS2 & swap magic. If PS3 games are currently being played from the HDD's, once these burners drop price...Its a wrap! I would go out on a limb & say that BR blanks could stay @ $20 a piece. You know why? Cause $20 is better than $60+ ;)

M$ banks off X360 piracy even more so now than they did w/Xbox. Cause now, regardless if the game is pirated, they're still ranking in crazy dough from the market place and no one is cheating.

[QUOTE="Chofee"]Lots of you aren't aware of the fact that a great deal of success PS2 had is due to modded consoles.. You really think that sony would sell 120mil ps2 if it was unmoddable?!?!?WilliamRLBaker

righttt.......So you mean the ps2 was successful because i could buy a system, mod it for 80 or so bux, and then never EVER buy a game ever again right?

Uh... the popularity of Gamefly and companies of the sort are primarily because of the ease of pirating Dreamcast and PS2 software.  One can only assume that because of this, PS2s sold through the roof.  Theoretically it killed Sega.

Modding of Xbox 1 consoles made Xbox 1 look a whole generation of its competitors, the GC and PS2.

There were possibilities to run N64 (and a ton of other older consoles) emulators. Copy entire games from the DVD into the Xbox harddrive and select the games you wanted to play from a menu. Have several different dashboards with literary thousands of different skins downloadable directly from sites dedicated to dashboard-skinning. That, and a lot of other things.

Just take a look at some youtube vids:

This one's quite nice:

If anything, modding and piracy actually boosted the Xbox-sales. The ones who took the blow were the developers of course.

$2 for blank DVD9 is much cheaper than $20 for blank BR....

XBL users were 10% of all Xbox owners so if M$ and its developers really believe that XBL can prevent piracy they couldnt be more wrong....

Also in the OP link there is stated that Asian pirates will try to emulate a private XBL fakeserver...if this happens I would like to see M$'s face...
