who would pick then?

AdobeArtist

Christian Bale.

Forget a male Shepard. Remember that Mass Effect is a game where the main protagonist is an open concept, up to the player to shape and define? Lets go with a hot female lead for this :D :D :D

Scarlet Johannson
Kate Beckinsale
Jessica Alba
Eva Mendes
Angelina Jolie
Catherine Zeta Jones
Halle Berry

All of whom have a resume of playing kickass roles 8)

Out of those, Zeta would be the best bet. I gotta say, some of them may be hot, but they have pretty cookie cutter acting.

Yeah, but why does it have to be that version? Just like you said yourself, it's generic. Considering that unlike other known games {GoW Zelda, Splinter Cell, DMC, Tomb Raider, etc...), Shepard isn't necessarily a molded character, but actully an open concept to be what every the player designs him/her to be. This opens so many possibities which frees up the csting from the typical "finding the best possible match" you are usually limited to, and that is an opportunity which should be explored.

Did anyone read the article? The writer doesn't seem to know Mass Effect is a game. He's speculating on what the technology we discover on Mars will bring :P.

Ross_the_Boss6
I thought the whole point of Mass Effect was the humans discovering tech. on mars....

I think you are mistaking John Shepard for Michael Thorton. Shepard did not really have that many choices besides being a helpful fool or a wannabe badass.

I disagree with that, but that wasn't even my point. I was talking purely about the appearance of Shepard, because most players went with their own custom design rather than the "default". Like I said, Shepard was designed to be an open concept, both in personality traits as well as simply visual appearance. So really, there's no reason casting is limited to just the box cover.

How closely he looks to the video game version of Shepard really isn't hugely relevant...all you need is a quality actor who has good presence on the screen and can play the role well...there are certain big name actors who would be great for the role, but the fact remains nearly all of the would be afraid to take on a video game character.

I agree 100%. Rachel Mcadams could also work...while she isn't "smoking hot" she is attractive and has much better acting skills than nearly all of the others listed.

"Popular actor Matthew Fox, who played Jack Shephard on ABC's hit series "LOST," is set to star in a new movie called "Mass Effect."

Not many details about the movie have been released, however the movie is slated for a 2012 release. All we know so far is that in the movie mankind discovers an ancient alien technology that enables travel faster than the speed of light – so what will mankind find when they use this type of travel?

We get so excited when we hear about our favorite Losties' new projects! We'll keep you posted!"

Mr. Overactor. Come on

1.He was completely justified in going off on the prop master like that.
2.he was completely justified in going off on the prop master like that.
3.It is confirmed that shortly after he apologized to the prop master, the prop master apologized back, and they were back on very good terms.

I think you are confusing Mr Over ACTOR with Mr Over REACTOR.

Since we wouldn't see the real actress, that could work too. Though I don't think they'd have to go with a motion capped CG for the Asari. It's not like the Navi in Avatar who had substntial differences to humn physiology. The Asari are close enough to human antomy and facial features the far simpler solution would be to go with actresses in makeup and prosthetics for the tentacles.

Obviously then the Krogan and Salarians would have to be CG. As far as the Turians and Quarians go, although they have the reverse jointed leg structures, I think it would be passable to just go with actors in makeup. The legs would be a minor issue as we mostly identify those races with the faces, or in the case of Quarians, environment suits and the face plates which conceals their faces.

It would really depend on the budget backing up just how much CG renders could be manufactured for the scale of a large population of so many diverse species to fill out the various location sets.
