8 reviews later and it has a 0. Not a 5, not a 10, but a 0. No review will save this garbage.

I did a headdesk (well...headback-of-the-theatre-seat-in-front-of-me) the instant I saw the flying demons in the trailer.

Can't be worse than Mario or Street Fighter.

Also, Dragonball Z will probably be worse from that horrible looking trailer. But hey, I can't stand that **** anyways.

While I wouldn't be surprised if it sucked, everyone has their own opinion. With RT, while a good site, their reviews do ahve the occational "WTF?".

I always had doubts about this movie, games need to stay games, I can see the aftermath of the some games like Halo and God of War being a bad one.

As good as a couple of its action beats are, Max still suffers from the heartlessness that makes games emotionally inferior to movies. Nobody ever shed a tear over a video-game character's death.

That's quite the ignorant comment..

Still, it's listed as having "no consensus". That means that there's not enough reviews up for the score to be taken seriously. I'm not saying that this is a good movie, I'm just saying that, as a major Hollywood release, it will have a few dozen reviews in the next week. Check back with RT on Wednesday for something approaching a final score.

I was just about to mention that. I guess he's never played a good rpg.

I remember shedding a tear in FFIV when Palom and Porom sacrificed themselves for the party.

I dont see how hard it could be to make a decent watchable Max Payne movie. It has the most basic premise ever. Someone kills his family, he goes out for revenge.

I think the fact that while leaping to the side while firing dual-wielded Desert Eagles may equate to awesomeness in a video game, it is one of the most mocked aspects of action films out there, and is now viewed as a parody in cinema now, rather than an awesome stunt.

There was still enough to work with. Maybe if the director would have spent more time worrying about the quality of the movie and not the rating it got, it would have come out better. From the way people are talking about this it seemed like the director and writers clearly didn't understand the audience they were making the movie for.

It's a sure path to failure.

That's what I was talking about. The director fought for that rating which is completely idiotic considering the source material. He wanted the lower rating to fill more seats, which is also stupid because if you make a great R rated movie people will go see it. They screwed up the last Die Hard film doing the exact same thing.

If you're going to make a Max Payne film, at least try to stay true to the source material. I'm not saying I want to see a bunch of bullet time and gun-kata either. Max Payne had a nice storyline to work with and some strong film noir overtones that could've been well portrayed on the silver screen...had the directorial staff had any clue what the hell they were dealing with...

1.Rotten tomatos is not a place to listen to, they aren't good critics they specifically go to films so as to make fun of those films.

2.its pretty much impossible to get a 0% on a 1-10, or 1-100 scale since you cant really COUNT a 0 0 means specifically nothing in most math for the most part.

3. im not defending the film ive not seen it but its just illogical is what im saying.

I really wonder if the directors of video game-based movies even PLAY the damned games they are making their movies about. It's like this one just saw some old trailers for it, saw the whole slow-mo side-leaping gunplay bits, and thought "Ah, so that's what the game's about...Mike, call 20th Century Fox! I gots an idea!".

Dunno why people follow the reviews of those fatt a55es at RT. They flunk every movie that isn't a remake of a movie they've seen in the past. They also flunk any movie that has an actor playing a role they don't think he/she should play. Like if a comedian plays a serious role, even is he/she is really good, they all try to mimic the top rated reviewers and cry "stick to your genre!" Never trust the review of someone over 30.

lmao, like what 2? This and The Happening, also wait for more reviews.

This isn't the first time RottenTomatoes gave bad ratings to "good" movies.
