Huh? Plot is rich people exploiting the poor, as well as exploiting him as he's basically broken and expected to take it up the butt. As far as a conclusion to the story goes, it's fantastic ending and a natural extension of 1/2. They didn't just ape it, they put their own take on it and actually gave the arc a proper, good capper.
He spends the entire game trying to save/protect those shitty rich people. Why? Why the **** is he even in Brazil? It makes no sense.
"Broken Max" is fine and appropriate, but everything around him is utter crap. I didn't get any arc, just "I left New York, now I here, lol!". Made no sense. When I was shooting through favellas, my only thought was "OK why can't I just take a cab to the airport and go home?"
Why was I fighting? Who was I saving? What was the point?

What's Mass Effects story again? An ancient evil awakens. A bunch of obvious archetypes you can have puppet sex with.
What's Max Payne's story again? "Dour, sarcastic detective with a murdered family, heart of gold and wit as quick as his trigger finger"? That concept was cliched in 1932, lol. Who cares, it's the execution that matters, and the execution was exceptional in all the games we're discussing, apart from MP3.

Max Payne emulates Noir and gun-fu action movies masterfully. Even when it's weak it's good.
Sunny favellas with shit characters are film noir now? :P
