    You might have gotten your wish. It seems that copies of the latest Sony DVD's don't work on older DVD players, but work fine on newer players. When called on the bluff, Sony apologized and called the error "updated copy protection." They weren't going to go back to their policy either, unlike the CD fiasco. Of course, DVD players don't naturally recieve firmware updates like computers do (wonder who had to explain Sony that one), so Sony had to re-issue all DVDs with lesser protection.
    Bet you're glad that Sony can't update your DVD player right now, ain't ya? Who knows what would happen if suddenly a DVD rendered your Xbox obsolete? Would Sony fix it? Would Microsoft fix it? And if neither didn't, who would you sue to fix it? Tough questions, thats for sure.Â
