What's the first thing you think of when you hear the word PC?
Microsoft Windows, of course.
Face it, the success of the platform is largly attributed to MS' Windows.
MS even had a monopoly of sorts together with Intel once ("Wintel alliance").
So we all know MS has a console system as well as is pushing new versions of Windows.
Windows 8 happens to be the most recent one and MS seem to be quite eager to push it in every household with a PC.
Desktop, laptop, tablet, doesn't matter - Windows will be found everywhere.
There is no use fighting it.
Sure, you can use alternatives but Windows will always have the best support.
If you're a PC gamer, you're in quite a bad situation if you dislike Windows.
Secondly, MS also wants to introduce *payable* online services to PC gamers, as found on their Xbox console and standards which regulate PC games.
In short that means if a game wants to get a "Windows approved" seal, they have to conform to standards set by MS.
Furthermore, MS of course want to keep selling their Xbox console and focus the games around it.
That means that PC gamers will likely enjoy many "high-quality" (direct) Xbox ports in the near future.
After all, you do not need a mouse and keyboard for action games, do you?
The future of PC gaming seems to be quite bright with MS Windows(tm) on it's side...
