What's the first thing you think of when you hear the word PC?

Microsoft Windows, of course.

Face it, the success of the platform is largly attributed to MS' Windows.

MS even had a monopoly of sorts together with Intel once ("Wintel alliance").

So we all know MS has a console system as well as is pushing new versions of Windows.

Windows 8 happens to be the most recent one and MS seem to be quite eager to push it in every household with a PC.

Desktop, laptop, tablet, doesn't matter - Windows will be found everywhere.

There is no use fighting it.

Sure, you can use alternatives but Windows will always have the best support.

If you're a PC gamer, you're in quite a bad situation if you dislike Windows.

Secondly, MS also wants to introduce *payable* online services to PC gamers, as found on their Xbox console and standards which regulate PC games.

In short that means if a game wants to get a "Windows approved" seal, they have to conform to standards set by MS.

Furthermore, MS of course want to keep selling their Xbox console and focus the games around it.

That means that PC gamers will likely enjoy many "high-quality" (direct) Xbox ports in the near future.

After all, you do not need a mouse and keyboard for action games, do you?

The future of PC gaming seems to be quite bright with MS Windows(tm) on it's side...

Who says Linux won't get more popular? They got the support of Valve, who I think is one of the main factors for the popularity of PC.

Software has to conform to MS standards only if it's being sold through the App store...

Have you perhaps seen MS forcing devs to sell their games through Win8 app store?

If Microsoft decides to control PC gaming like a closed platform, alternatives will arise sooner or later. The future of PC gaming will always be ours to choose.

OSX is superior. Windows 8 is a phone OS on steroid.

windows won't be a closed platform, that would be a huge mistake and Microsoft isn't that stupid to close it off and make everyone get their applications and programs through the store. I like it how it is now how they are encouraging devs to use the store, but not forcing them.

Trust me, it broke up the argument way too much, and it started to get confusing. Paragraphs are overrated.
