Media Create Japan Sales April 2-8: PS Vita Officially Dead

Glad I decided not to buy the Vita, doesn't look like there will be much support for it in the near future. Pull out Sony, now!

Edit: I'm asking Sony to pull out of the handhelds with the Vita debacle not the console race.

Vita under 9,000. I admit I laughed.

The Vita sales are really low, especially for a handheld.

In all cases- discontinuation, no discontinuation, evolution into a service- the Vita is Sony's last dedicated handheld, that is for sure.

im still waiting on the good games to be released to vita...some of my fav games from last gen were on psp(the jrpgs that SHOULD have be released on ps3) so when stuff finally starts comin out on psv i see sales taking off...its only been 2 months...give the 3rd parties a few more months for the good stuff to come out and i think sales will take off

I really don't know what to say...

I'm just extremely surprised that the Vita didn't sell very well. It's safe to say that Nintendo is dominating the handhelds and that possibly in a year's time, the Vita'll be a collector's item.

I'm baffled at how the Vita PSN selection has been pretty much the same as when it launched except for Unit 13.

WTF Sony, get some games releasing. it's 2 months already, usually we'd see at least some weird budget title/shovelware every week.

Sony is an embarrassment of a game company

and Now we will watch Vita and Sony die a slow death infront of the entire world.

Still love my Vita but Waiting on some more decent games and PS1 compatability..seriously WTH is that being patched in..Anyway Vita is most likely screwed Sony needs some casual auidence grabbing games, where the hell is Call Of Duty and Monster Hunter ? The way i look at it the 3ds dropped about 49k units in overall sales, the Vita dropped only 4k. The vita appears to be stable and the heavy hitters aren't out yet whereas the 3Ds already pulled out some of its biggest guns.

and Vita has dropped to a pitiful 8 k, which is aprox 10 times less.

Has zero games charting in software as well... and developers would be insane to put games on this failure which is already dead in the market.

I really hope Sony can get out of the mess they are in. Seeing sony leave either the handheld race or console race would be bad news for all of us. Sony, get some worthwhile games out, a system seller.

For a system that's doing so terribly, it doesn't have bad marketing. There's a Vita ad at my bus stop, and there was another Vita ad at the bus stop I got off of :o They're pretty lame though, I think it said "FPS Gamers Rejoice! Dual Analog sticks!" with pictures of games that haven't released like Resistance.Eponique

The situations are not remotely comparable and Vita's first/third party support situation is far more bleak than Nintendo's was. famicommander

This is probably officially the end of the road for the PS Vita, selling under 10,000 units.

The PSP on the other hand is doing great on the software front, while the 3DS is predicatbly dominating the charts on both (especially on the hardware front, where it sold more than every other system on the chart put together. Again), the software and the hardware fronts.
