Media Create's latest hardware sales: Microsoft accounts for only 2% of total

Here's the bottom line for all manufacturers when trying to gauge hardware success.... how many units of yours is selling? According to Media Create in Japan, here are the latest weekly totals for hardware sales (% of sales in parentheses):

Nintendo: 99,346 (51%)

Sony CE: 90,932 (47%)

Microsoft: 4,244 (2%)

Since Xbox started we've figured out that the Xbox is not popular in Japan. I don't get why one of these threads is posted so often.

Yes, we know the 360 is dead in Japan. Why is there a thread everytime it happens?

Why do you assume this is directed at 360 only? He said Microsoft. PS2 still sells well to this day, apparently Xbox 1 isn't selling in Japan either. Remember Xbox came out a year after PS2...it should still be selling units if the PS2 is still selling units.

It's not really new. 360 fails in Japan while the Wii and Ps3 thrive. Most of the 360 sales are from Europe and the US.

If its ANYTHING to do with that sort of stuff at all, its more like they love their own country's products more than other ones instead of just plain hating the Americans.

But in reality, they just find certain products having more value than others, which is what a smart consumer should be decisive about to begin with.

This demonstrates a drastic shift in Microsoft's fortunes in Japan, it seems.

The tide is turning, lemmings. Low sales in Japan inevitably lead to low sales everywhere else. The PS3's ascension to second place is all but assured now.

It's because of MS' influence on JRPGs this gen.

Well that's a surprise... not. Too bad western software (most games) find no market in Japan and thus this information is not only widely known but mostly irrelevant.

You forget that the Micosoft paid big $$$ for a long time under the table to not allow the PS3 to get any 3rd party JRPGs. They had all of them to themelves at one point, so it wasn't just a case of having only FPS titles to choose from in that country.

they knew all along Japan would be an almost impossible nut to crack but it is sold there to insure J-devs will put out games for the 360 and judging from things like ace combat exclusivity, ff13, dmc and resident evil all being titles that released at the same time for both consoles the 360 in Japan is an outta the park home run full of win success

if the 360 never sold one more unit in Japan it makes no difference the J- devs have made profit and i get a pile of games that once upon a time nobody would ever thought the 360 would get or at best would get a year after the ps3 release

microsofts Japan stratagie is just one more example of how they were playing the game two moves ahead of sony

there are levels upon levels of how this console war has played out and if you can only see sales numbers then you don't know what to look for and that's your own shortsightedness crippling your thought process

Im not seeing any media create percentage on there only what the TC put together him self.

I see. So basic math has yet to reach your school. No problem, I'm here to educate:

First take each hardware sales figure for all Sony machines and add them together. List Sony sales with that number. Repeat for Nintendo and Microsoft. Now add all three numbers together for hardware sold last month in Japan. If you divide the total number of sales from one company by the total hardware sales of them all together, you'll have a percentage of total sales for that company. Do it for all three and you'll have all three percentages.

Now was that hard? You don't need a website to do the scary maths for you when you can do them yourself.

NPD is Wednesday. Also, for the sake of cows, PS3 better have a big lead in sales. If its only above the competition by 50k, there is going to be a problem.
