24,000 characters x 2,000 polygons per character = 48,000,000 polygons...
Add to that the huge cities/castles, siege engines, detailed enviroment...
There is NO game or platform that can even touch the sheep raw brutality of the TW engine...

Yea but the game isnt really "FUn"
nor do the graphics wow me
R-Dot-Yung
FPS camera and WASD controls
Epic cinematic feel
Huge online battles without any pathetic basebuilding resource collecting...
the game also has glitches and gameplay problems galore. Still, its pretty to look at. :Peo12601
Thats why there is something called 1.02 patch...
And before console fanboys moan: Quake 4 Xbox360...

to each his own
id much rather play Starcraft
Have you EVER played that game?
It has morale/flanking/enriclement/charge physics/ground angle level/shield angle...
Its a pinnacle of tactical gameplay...NO build order memorising clickfests...

Huge online battles without any pathetic basebuilding resource collecting... still doesn't make this game very exciting.
Exciting=Opinion
Tactical thinking + Pure strategy= Fact

Maybe his, I dunno...opinions differ from yours? You know, the whole 'I like different things than you do' aspect that is human nature?

lol, even got the AAA hype in there, flop.
Hardware requirements are the most pathetic form of game judgement...

Exactly, all that stuff comes together nicely on paper, but in the game it's not all that fun in my opinion.
In your opinion this game is the best game in teh universe!!!!!11!!!!!!!

To be fair, the game is good...but not as good as the OP says it is.

I'm sorry True_Gamer_ but that's pretty sad :(
You need to play games other than M2TW.
well your going to need a mega powerful pc to make the most out of that game 4 cores at 2.6ghz 4gbs ram and 2 8800s should do to max that game out . in size of battles and system settings without lag .deadmeat59
It runs perfect on my pc.
It's an impressive poly count, but they can do it because its an RTS. When you've got hundreds of identical and small models, you can use instancing and batching to get good performance.Teufelhuhn
1st the camera zooms VERY close to make the models look huge...
2nd the engine generates from random body parts the models...
TW games have absolutely nothing to do with the Dune2 clo(w)nes...
Most ignorant comment ive ever heard ... ok between those lines .Yea but the game isnt really "FUn"
nor do the graphics wow me

it is quite an achievement allright. the size of the maps is also staggering.
The creative assembly have a tendency to break the accepted standard though. whod a thought that the PS2 could render 500 3d models in real time? well they did it in spartan total warrior. they also had a simpler version of HDR which was thought undooable at the time. i remember the lead tech guy talking about the vector unit processors in the PS2 and how barely any devs used them (he was also surprised by the GC. he thought that would cause some real hassle but developement went smoothly for the system). They know how to get the best out of their available resources. I cant wait to see what they do with the next total war game and DX10. DX10 is really good at allowing devs have loads of stuff on the screen so there going to have real fun with that :D.

Exactly these guys will raise the characters on screen cap to 150k in the expansion...I cant imagine what they will do in the next game...
Seriously, how many threads can one make about the same dang game. We get it that you like the Total War series. It's not, as you like to think, the ultimate technical achievement.
So weak sauce!musicalmac
Do you feel better? If yes my thread is beneficial...If not Im happy for you...
