Hopefully we get Shenmue 3, because I would buy it on day one.

If they turn it into a linear action game to save funds, it's not only going to suck, it will defeat the premise and vision of shenmue. They might aswell make a new IP. Honestly, if they go that way I'd prefer Shenmue to end with a question mark of what could of been, but I'm hopeful somehow, shenmue III not only gets made but SOMEHOW makes it to western shores.

I guess you all have not played Shenmur lately. It didn't age very well. Not saying it won't be good, but Yu Zusuki hasn't did anything in years and the competition has better gameplay and is just more fun. It will probably be like Nights on the Wii. A big disappointment.

It is outdated indeed, there's ben so much progress for open-world/sandbox games. But the atmosphere and the music is what drives the game, in that respect it hasn't ben duplicated, so it is worth playing. If they release a HD pack with japanese VA & subtitles, then wen can also be spared of the gut wrenching, horrible english voice acting that should never be experienced.

Sony said the PS4 is by gamers for gamers and their vision for what the system is has inspired developers.  MS isn't sending the same message and a lot of developers don't like the way they handle business or the direction they are going in video games. Again Sega released the Yakuza franchise excluisve to the PS3 all last generation so all the lems thinking it will automatically be on next box might want to think again...

And man the are the japanese develoers are coming on strong this gen right out the gates, first MGS4 and now this.  This current gen is already set to totally eclipes last gen by huge levels...lol hopefully you choose the right system.

I played it quite recently and I disagree. Things like atmosphere don't age. The attention to detail present in this game still outdoes plenty of current gen games. And lets not forget the story, and the fact we want to know what happens next. I don't think people will be disappointed.

It would be a very bad idea to make this game an exclusive. they should push to put this on both consoles to maximize sales.

If this does happen a collection of 1&2 would be nice.

lol... I was thinking the same thing. I'm sure some people never played the first two are just spouting off "omgodz I will buyz a (insert console here) to buy and play a game I know nothing about and never even heard of the first 2!"

heh... I have played a ton of games... however, Shenmue was always one of those game series that didn't have much appeal to me with everything else on the market at the time they released.

This time around I would probably look into it, but people are acting like just because the first two have kind of a cult following now that they were HUGE news back in the day... which they were not.

For those that this doesn't apply to, I am happy you enjoyed the games, and you think so highly of them.

I don't think Microsoft is going to do that considering after 2009 they pretty much abandoned that sinking ship of a strategy. That I don't think devs will want to purposely undercut their own sales again. It's no coincidence that just about all of those 360 jrpgs (save for Mistwalker games) eventually got ported to the PS3.

Shenmue 2 crashed on the Xbox and in general Shenmue crashed and has a cult following that seems to be shrinking. This is like saying that ridge racer is a reason to own a PS3, and people from the first Xbox 360 should have jumped ship then.

..the development of the game hasn't even been confrimed yet

still not decided on next gen consoles(next ps in front of nextbox right now because they have better exclusives), but this would make me buy a ps4 day one.

Game wouldn't even be a hit if released now. No one wants an extremely slow paced game anymore. 75% of Shenmue is just running around talking to random people. And when you finally do get some action it's either a QTE or a poorly made fighting game. Shenmue released today would be a huge flop.FPSfan1985
