Its not piracy if its allowed by microsoft policy. And based on the way its worded "You can always play your games, and any one of your family members can be playing from your shared library at a given time." If i can always play my games, then that means if someone is playing forza 5 from my shared library, it sounds like i can load up forza 5 from my personal library at the same time... unless its going to boot my friend in the middle of his game as soon as i load it up which seems a bit silly.

definitely needs clarification, but the way its worded does make it sound like simultaneous play is allowed.

MrGeezer

You're correct, I mean that theeffect would be the same as piracy in that people could take one new game and turn it into ten while only making one purchase. Not a chance in hell of Microsoft doing this. And even if that was what Microsoft intended, publishers can opt out. If this was really a system for giving 10 people a game off of one purchase, then don't expect to see any publishers going along with it. The way you're thinking, there would be zero incentive for any of those ten people to go buy the game after sharing it.

But only one person from the 10 can be playing from the shared library at a time. So its not much different than passing a game disc around to 10 people. This plan is actually even more limiting... as normally with the disc based sharing model, i can lend out 10 different games to 10 different friends simultaneously. With this i can only share 1 game at any given time.

The area where this model seemingly has a distinct advantage is if the game owner can play the same title at the same time as someone using his shared library.

This is the reason i havent completely written off the X1.

Based on the way its worded, it sounds like the game owner and one other person has access to any game at any given time, and we are even allowed to play the same game at the same time. .

waggs

When one family member logs in, it logs the other one out. :( It also sounds like digital content (DLC) is tied to the gamertag still, not the family.

Im aware that only one person can be logged into the shared account at any given time.

The benefit will be if me and my friend can both play COD together with only a single disc purchase, me on my account, and him on my shared account. If thats the case it would be a large benefit over the traditional disc based model.

Thats why im still waiting for clarification from MS, and havent completely given up on the X1.

[QUOTE="MrGeezer"] I think that should be obvious that you can't. That'd essentially be straight up piracy. Mr720fan

Its not piracy if its allowed by microsoft policy. If i can always play my games, then that means if someone is playing forza 5 from my shared library, it sounds like i can load up forza 5 from my personal library at the same time... unless its going to boot my friend in the middle of his game as soon as i load it up which seems a bit silly.

definitely needs clarification, but the way its worded does make it sound like simultaneous play is allowed.

i dont think it can be done that way, i think if you arent playing your friend can play your library and if you sign on and you are primary account you can knock them off.... Even so, this is a great way to share games digitally, i wish Steam would offer something like this.

The wording from MS is that you can always play your games AND any one family member from the shared library at a given time. So im pretty sure you dont need to log off for someone else to play,

The question i want to know is how MS will handle you and that family member wanting to play the same game.

All the Sony love prior to the launch of the system over used games. This is not the 90s any longer, used media is becoming less and less relevant for those that are actually paying attention.

I don't buy Blu-Rays any longer, I don't buy actual CDs for music any longer, and I am sure my games will be the same way as well soon. Those bitching about this move are severly over reacting.

Here are the things I am ticked at Msoft for.

No 36o price decrease, very little support for upcoming 36o platform from Msoft directly, nothing compelling at all for Kinect 2.0 for the X1.

The sharing of games is cool but really who does this on a wide scale? My friends can all afford games they want. I guess it would be cool every now and then but nothing I am hyped about.

X1 day one for me though. Sony will get my money later when they have a price decrease just like they did last gen (They lack innovation).

[QUOTE="Heil68"]Medhi also clarified the situation regarding the sharing of your Xbox One game library with up to ten "family members", despite not being able to give all the details at this stage. According to him, a "family member" doesn't actually have to live in your house - they could be 3,000 miles away - and you'll be able to link/add Xbox Live accounts to access your shared game library, although only one person can play a copy of a shared game at the same time. lol... bu bu bu we'll share and play at the same time nd split costs of gamezZ!11!!!!! http://www.neowin.net/news/microsoft-defends-the-xbox-ones-used-game-policyLy_the_Fairy

We already know that only one person can access the shared game library at any time.

However, Microsoft has also stated the game owner has access to their games at any time which presumably means even while someone is playing a game from the shared library.

more than likely if they use the game and are connected online, will knock the other person off. They just get priority to their game

So I can share games w/ people in another state, yea? Or country even? If you did that w/ PS4, you'd have to ship the game to your "friend" and that would be a giant hassle. Sounds like a great idea! You could buy a SP game, then lend it to a friend w/ that?

Does that mean one person can play the game in the shared library while the library holder is playing a different game? The specifics are lacking.

No, I'm fairly certain that you won't be able to play the game with your "family member" with just one account. If the main account holder is playing the game, I highly doubt anyone else at all will be able to play it.

ps4 games could be shares with millions..daveg1
thanks for that... I find being able to share with 10 friends EASILY, a lot more practical than the possibility of sharing your game physically with millions. Not even sure why that's considered important to you

MS are doing away with DRM to make the game publishers more money and increase sales, so imagine you and 10 friends decide to just buy 1 game each then take it in turns to play through them, which you could do if thats true, so the publishers have lost out on the sale of 90 games, you do the math, there will be a catch i guarantee it and thats why they aint shouting about it. Edit : I see it now, if someone is playing a game you have shared and you are playing a game then no one else can play a shared game. Only one shared game can be accessed at a time GG, poor damage limitation.

you are missing the point. if a family all game, then only one copy will need to be bought that will be stored on everyones HDD.
