[QUOTE="Onizuka36"][QUOTE="JiveT"]

Let's clarify some things

1: MGS is not a AAA franchise the gameplay is terrible and the stories are always based around the exact same plot. The only thing that changes (barely) is whatever philosophical point Kojima is trying to beat into the viewer's head. Yes "viewer" not "player". There is about as much gameplay in the MGS series as Sewer Shark for the Sega CD.JiveT

Wow, you seem like a person I never want to see post ever again. You sometimes have good points in some of your posts (although sometimes they're few and far between), but your blatantly ignorant view of MGS is not doing any of us any good.

Every game has the same sequence of events so far. Snake infiltrates, Snake is captured, Snake fights Metal Gear. Wash, rinse, repeat. The camera is awful in all 3 games until he finally (sort of) fixed the camera in Subsistence. Take away the cutscenes and you are left with an awkward playing shell of a game. The only good thing about the gameplay is how item selection is handled but he got that down to a science in the first game. I can explain why its bad can you explain why its good?

Each game have a great story behind it, with excellent characters creation of both good and bad. Memorable unique villians. Pumping action. You got a gameplay of how it would feel like if you were one man against a whole gand of bad guys. You know you can't just balently rush throw, gun blazing because you will be overrunned and killed. You have to move ever so carefully, you don't know what is behind the next corner. That to me is exciting and fun. I can fall in love with the tons of cutscreens, because each is interesting either action filled or just  information wise on the plot your in. Each boss match is so much different, each with their own personality and style. So much to love.

[QUOTE="rey06"]its not becoz gamepot always rate Metal gear well sometimes an AA doesnt mean its an official AA franchise. YOU FAIL!AvIdGaMeR444

8 AA

3 AAA

Majority wins.  Metal Gear is an AA franchise.

Yeah but thats only judging from GameSPot's score and to state that a franchise/game is AA/AAA you must have many reviews and not just use the one from site, not even the #1 site in the world (fictional of course).  One site doesnt make a game AA or AAA.

And even so, if MGS aint a AAA franchise its still a great one

MGS is still not an AAA franchise.  It is on Sony platforms, but not as a whole. When you take the other iterations of MGS games (PC, GC, Xbox, etc) and include all of them with everything else, then the franchise is AA.  And that was my point in my initial post.

I will just voice my opinion on the MGS games not if its a AAA franchise because it is to me and that's all I care about.

Metal Gear (NES)- This game revolutionized the action based side stroller save the girlfriend games. It brought a story and a sense of I am this character to the video game players.

Metal Gear Solid Snake (Famy-Com or MGS3:SUB)- I feel if this game came out in the states at the time it would have been a massive influence to video game developers. It was so vastly impressive being able to do things like save radio contacts and the game play was very vast and impressive for its time.

Metal Gear Solid (PS)-The game that REVOLUTIONIZED a whole GENRE of gaming. Taking you into a 3D world and being able to move around and look and almost feel the surroundings for the first time was AMAZING. Who can forget seeing the Cigs for the first time in your Item Box. Or when you are in the Elevator before the Boss battle between Snake and Sniper wolf having Otacon basically Freak out on the Codec and YELL at you warning you 4 Invisible guys are in the Elevator with you. I mean if you don't see how this game was basically as revolutionizing as any game ever made you are not worth Gaming.

Metal Gear Solid 2 (PS2)- A game that made you think. How many times can you say that? The first time I finished MGS2 I was in shock at what the game had brought out of me. The feeling of wow what if there really was a Patriot organization running a country? I think that MGS2 in a lump some can be phrased as being. (WTF?) In every good way possible.

Metal Gear Solid 3 (PS2)- This is a game that took you into an almost REAL living breathing Jungle or Woods or whatever you want to call it. But it gave you a sense that you could go to groznigrad and that was what you would see. It to me just had something I cannot explain but only get with this game. And it had one of the best Boss battles in gaming and also had a FANTASTIC ENDING TO END ALL ENDINGS. This game had me at ONE tear. But that is still a lot coming from a video game. And again the game made you think.

Metal Gear Portable Ops (PSP) The game had a weird charm. But it worked, for myself I liked the game and I couldn't put it down. I also love having the two US powers go at it for basically POWER as the end all be all force of protecting the Country. The story was solid and I had fun playing it. It didn't have a revolution in gaming but it was SOLID.

Again this is my opinion but I say this who all disrespect this series. (You can hate all you want, But at the end of the day. It is our gain and your loss.)

Metal Gear Acid -- AA

Metal Gear Acid 2 -- AA

MGS: Portable Ops -- AAA

Game Boy Color

MGS -- AAA

NES

Metal Gear -- no Gamespot review

Snake's Revenge -- no Gamespot review

A lot of people disliked Snake's Revenge compared to Metal Gear on NES.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snake's_Revenge

"This game has been criticized for many reasons. First due to the critical level of difficulty added to this game making it neigh impossible to complete. The second would be the misconception of the story and the side scrolling sequences."

http://www.gamespot.com/nes/action/snakesrevenge/index.html?tag=result;title;0

(Terrible reviews from people who have played it.)

Gamespot hasn't ever reviewed this game...but if it ever comes to VC, I bet it will be bashed hard.

There's also been a Mobile version of Metal Gear, and it 1st arrived on MSX.

13 iterations of Metal Gear games spread across several platforms

AAA  -- 3

AA -- 8

A -- 2

Metal Gear is an AA franchise.

Ok, now that we have this established, I have a serious question for cows.

How can you logically say that MGS4 will get AAA based on the above info?

AvIdGaMeR444

So by this info you feel like you can guaranty that MGS4 will not be AAA?

So this is what lemmings have resorted to....Anyways, it seems from the trailers that metal gear has done enough to push itself up back into AAA territory. it looks awesome, and when i play it, it will be awesome, if you were to play it you would find out, but there seems to be a little 360 issue going on...8)

although I enjoy Metal Gear games, I think that you are exactly right. I predict a high score for MGS4, like an 8.8, but not above a 9.0. accameron

LOOOOOOOOOOOL @ TEH MODESTY  you really made my day man, so cute
