Metal Gear Solid 4 is the greatest Game of this Generation.

At his point, having played all major games for all platforms I have to say Metal Gear Solid 4 is above all, from graphics to story it crushes all other games released thus far EDIT: Specially when it comes to GamePlay, Essentially . Halo 3, gears of war, Mario galaxy. All of those pale compared to MGS4.

It definitely holds the crown thus far when it comes to overall presentation. You also have to consider the scope of MGS4 to appreciate it's graphics. We're not talking about running from barier to barrier sneakng we're talking about big environments with many different ways to get through the levels.

Kojima has proven again why he is a master story-teller.

Multiplayer in MGS 4 sucks hard...so damn you could honestly name so many games better in that area.

Warhawk is better than MGS 4s MP.

MGS 4 is a great game, but you can make arguements for other games being better in certain ways.

MGS 4s selling point is its story, visual/audio production, great boss fights.

-convoluted over the top japanodrama

-cutscenes are way too long

-nonsensical cutscenes about technological concepts that drag on like a university lecture

-mission briefings were just repeating the same thing again and again and again

-cover mechanic was really bad

-cutscenes interrupted gameplay too often

-MGO is really bad

I don't agree. MGS4, while having the best presentation of all time (for consoles), still relies on its cutscenes too much to make a full gameplay experience unlike Galaxy and GTA4. If you took away cutsenes, there's not a hell of alot of gameplay content there. It's all very brief. I was shocked by how fast the acts ended.

The first act was an excellent balance of gameplay and cutscenes, but as it went on, cutscenes overtook gameplay and offset the balance. By the 3rd act, the gameplay ratio was deeply fragmented. There was cutscenes, a breif sneaking segment, cutscenes, an on-rails bike chase, a boss, cutscenes. There was no stealth elements past the 3rd act.

It's definitely in the top 3 of this gen, but I cannot call it the best. While shooting and controls are more satisfying, some problems still remain. I find GTA4 and Galaxy to be more meaty.

MGS4 is still fairly linear. GTA's scope is more impressive.

Although MGS4 murders GTA4 graphically, I find how good GTA looks to be more of a surprise considering how much stuff it has to render at any given moment.

What new things to MGS4 bring to the stealth genre? It was MGS3 with octocamo.

I don't agree. MGS4, while having the best presentation of all time (for consoles), still relies on its cutscenes too much to make a full gameplay experience unlike Galaxy and GTA4. If you took away cutsenes, there's not a hell of alot of gameplay content there. It's all very brief. I was shocked by how fast the acts ended.

The Orange Box has the same value, Specially because of Portal. hl:ep2 is one of my fav games this gen, Not higher than Mgs4's though, metal gear solid was a whole new step in story telling and tactical gameplay (octocamo, Mark II, solid Eye etc) .

What the hell are you talking about? The first act was the only act in which the balance was perfect. After the 2nd act, the balance began to shift heavily in favor of cutscenes.
