I don't understand why people say that the PS4 is where the MGS community is. Is it brand loyalty? Why would you choose an inferior version because of brand loyalty? That is unless you really don't have a superior option but dont want to feel inadequate..........
I think that is the single dumbest reason to get a game on a particular system. I mean didn't the Metal Gear series start on a different system to begin with?
Well if you really want to get technical. Metal Gear firs appear on MSX2 in 1987. Metal Gear Solid appear on NES, [The NES port was done without Kojima's consent and he considers it to be the bastard child of the series, he doesn't even consider the NES MG2 part of the series). and finally, Metal Gear Solid appear on PlayStation in 1998. And from hear on, MGS found a home on Sony's console and which is why everyone says it's best played on PlayStation console cause it's been targeting Sony's console for so long.
I did want to get technical and correct your correction for a minute, but I will do it as polite as possible. :P
Actually, Metal Gear Solid never appeared on NES, I believe you actually meant Metal Gear. However, since the other users are also reading it and probably don't know, I wanted to clarify that for everyone reading now and in the future. :P
Metal Gear "Solid" did first appear on Playstation, but Metal Gear appeared on the MSX and NES. I just want to say I love these games, haha. For fans, it's also good to know Metal Gear 2 released on MSX, but the NES got a terrible version...long story that you probably know as well. My first Metal Gear game was on the NES because the Konami MSX machine wasn't big in the west. However, despite Metal Gear NES being a port with shoddy translation, it was good back then, even if Konami themselves didn't even bother putting their label on it (another long story). That said, I reserved and was very excited when Metal Gear Solid released in 1998. I was there on launch night 1998 and very excited to get the package home. Hideo Kojima didn't disappoint!
Copies of the original Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 (with good translation) were also on the PS2 version of Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence.
