Metal Gear Solid - Possible Spoilers

hey guys. I have owned the PS1,2 and 3... and never played a single MGS game (worryingly). However, i really think they look cool, and MGS4 looks damn fun. So, could someone explain the storyline so that i can understand MGS4 when i get it?

FIRSTLY, ANYONE WHO DOESN'T WANT THE MGS SERIES TO BE SPOILED LEAVE THIS THREAD NOW.

There is so much to the Metal Gear Story it can't all be held in one human brain (except the almighty Hideo Kojima). And trying to explain it in a forum post? PFT!

All I can say to you is to play the games. I was in your exact same situation back in like, around February? I got MGS, MGS2 and MGS3 on eBay in a bundle for like $40. So... go do that. Play the games.

Just play the damn games, you can get them all for like $30 total. If you decide not to, wikipedia has a great section on MGS.

You won't get the full experience at all from MGS4 from just reading the descriptions we tell you, even watching all the cutscene on the net will not be enough.

Playing the games is the only real way.

Never fight robots? Damn, I guess the 50 I fought before the 2 hour cut-scene to fight Solidus were humans.
