Metroid 4 looks like Halo 4. Was it secretly developed by 343i?

I didn't watch Kindergarten Direct, so didn't knew they showed new gameplay for Metroid 4. It randomly popped up on my youtube feed (you know, where i usually play most of my games), so i watched it. Are we gonna pretend that i didn't look like shit? The environment, the music, there's zero atmosphere that is so damn important to Metroid. Then you look at the UI, colors, enemies design and animations, and even the game technical visuals, it looks like its straight up Halo 4 from 2012.

What the f*ck?

Looks good to me, new metroid prime on switch.

Halo 4 was a good looking game btw. And this is for Switch.

Nintendo getting ready to sell the same game twice... Once on switch and once on switch 2 with enhanced performance and visuals. Who in God's name is rooting for that? Ew.

If Halo 4 was one of their inspirations, that's a massive oof.

It was one of the better looking games of that entire generation.. not close to being my favorite halo game but visually it was great, and this is metroid prime on a Nintendo handheld that's been out for 7 years. I'm not complaining, looks good lol

The trailer was clearly the very beginning of the game. It looks great and I'm looking forward to it.

Yes yes, Halo 4 was one of the best, and probably the best looking game on the 360 (far from KZ2, KZ3, UC3, but still a nice effort on the inferior system). But guess what else? Its a game from 2012🤷‍♂️And my point here wasn't even that the game looks outdated, but that it uses a very similar aesthetic to Halo 4, which was garbage of a video game.

Metroid Prime gameplay is unique on its own from other shooters, and it does not need to copy others.

Thought it looked pretty good. Clean graphics, silky smooth 60 fps, good music. Seems to be coming along nicely.

Hoping for a good blend of exploration, boss battles and puzzles.

Where's the atmosphere at, tho? That looked like an action game a la cod/halo, not what Prime was.

That is what i have hoped, but from what's shown, that's clearly not the case. This might be Nintendo's way of trying to go mainstream with an IP that is supposedly doing poorly everytime they release one.

There’s no way that what they showed was running on Switch hardware. The game is 100% launching on Switch 2.

I thought of this as well, but then when you pay attention to textures and lighting, its very x360. If this is the power of the Switch 2, i mean, nice upgrade, bro.

You can’t be serious. All your judgment boils down to a Metroid trailer??

I’m not trying to be critical. Rather, I’m amazed you compare halo with Metroid.

What else is there? The damn thing was announced EIGHT YEARS AGO!!!!!!!!!!!! And its still not out. Who does that? Would be understandable if this was GTA7, a game that has a ton of things going for it, but this is a semi linear game, nobody takes this long

Okay, how is this the consumer problem? You're paying money for a quality product, and them taking over a generation to release what was announced in 2017 makes no sense at all. For such an important ip, dev hell should never be an issue if they had a clear vision for the project. That is why it turned out to look like Halo 4 instead of Prime.

Been saying it for generations, Fromsoft is the ones that should be in charge. They've proven to be able to offer top notch gunplay with AC6, and amazing level design, atmosphere, enemies design, enemies variety, bosses, etc. They're perfect for the job, not Nintendo.

Stop it. Fromsoft is only good for souls likes.

They make AC6, a decent mech game, and you automatically assume they should be making metroid prime.. your fromsoft Fandom has gone too far

Development hell is usually a bad sign, if any other company. It's not the first time a Nintendo game fell into this hole, but historically Nintendo has pulled through and delivered the goods in situations like these.

You're just clawing for System Wars material and trying hard over what is essentially a teaser trailer, which is fair. I understand, being an ex-cow myself, waters get a bit choppy and you start clamoring for whatever you can get your hands on.

I like Metroid. Said it many times, i like Metroid. What's shown is not Metroid. This is not some SW bullshit, i don't see metroid in this trailer.

Y'all have no imagination, and unable to see the capabilities of certain developers until they make a game that is exactly the way you want it to be. Not my fault.

One game is running with 512MB of RAM and the other 4GB, yet there are moments where the 512MB system simply looks more impressive.

Love how people can judge an entire game atmosphere out of a one minute trailer reveal.

You didn't get it. Its Metroid. Why won't your first trailer be atmospheric, showcasing the cool environment, environmental sounds these games used to have, and a fitting soundtrack? Because Nintendo is taking a different approach with this game. You don't want to hear this (obviously), but Nintendo is tired of this IP not being profitable. Metroid 4 is going more dudebro action, and it makes sense. Remember how they rebooted their development years ago? Their first attempt was most likely the real deal, but real deal, just like Prime, didn't do well. So just like EA and Dragon Age, the project was rebooted to please as many as possible. Thing is, this will never work, and at the end, just like DA, they'll end up pleasing no one.

The environment reminded me of that flooded grass region in Metroid Prime 2. Literally the Space Pirate battle theme that's in all the Metroid Prime games that you're calling poor music choice.

I highly doubt you ever played these games. You just claim to "like" Metroid but you're not actually a fan.

I don't recall this soundtrack at all, but its also not something i would ever use to showcase the first gameplay of the game. And i owned Prime 1, played a decent amount of 2.

Well there you go. You just got exposed you don't know what you're talking about if you can't even recognize one of the main themes of the Metroid Prime Trilogy.

I haven't played the damn games in i don't even know how long, and this is not a memorable soundtrack whatsoever, so i am not sure why you'd expect me to remember.

I guess you're just not qualified to talk about the Metroid IP if you don't even know the series.

It makes sense now why you think it looks like Halo. You're speaking from a mind of ignorance.

You thought i was the only one who saw Halo in this reveal? Think again. Read the chat.

Ill be honest, this is more Halo than Halo itself at this point.

@hardwenzen: I didn't hear Halo even once.

And besides, why bother with a random YouTuber trying to look like a Final Fantasy character. I'll give you credit for that one: you went out of your way to find the most apathetic reaction from a guy who clearly does not have a connection to the Metroid franchise. But even then, he said "looks cool."

Prime 3 had a very similar intro like this Prime 4 trailer. The game started with the Space Pirates attacking a Federation base and it was hectic with ships fly by's, explosions and turrets shooting everywhere and once the intro was done the game went back to the atmospheric and puzzle solving the series is known for.

This guy doesn't now what he's talking about. As for the music, if you think the music was not fitting then you're not a real Prime fan and the music was fitting. The music playing was the Space Pirates theme and that's the music that always plays when space pirates are heavily involved. And if you listen to the music at the very end during the release date reveal that was the real music for Prime 4. It reminded me of Phendrana Drifts theme.

And just to prove my point even more, here's the Space Pirates theme's from all 3 Prime games. So please stop trying to claim Prime 4 is no longer atmospheric based on ONE trailer.

Metroid games always have sections that are more organic, space pirate locations and various other biomes. And they are all a blast to play (except other M) so I'm very hyped.

I said read the chat that's on the left of the screen, not hear him say it. He knows nothing about Metroid, and he is not important, its his chat that has noticed the change. And the reason why i posted this is because after watching the trailer, this shit randomly popped up in my feed, and i was surprised to see so many people mentioning Halo, so i am certainly not the only one who've noticed. Bet you that if you watched the Direct live on youtube, tons of people would be mentioning Halo during the reveal because its too damn similar, i don't know how anyone could deny it.

Him being random millionaire that got a bag of $70M for going to Kick or a nobody is not the point. Chat in his stream or another is your average gaming demographic. If there are so many noticing the same thing, well, what smells like shit ends up being shit.

@hardwenzen: Your "average gaming demographic" is playing Fortnite and Among Us, aka Gen Z kids that take up those chat rooms.

They are too young to even know Metroid.

If you include the mega casuals, yes, but those that are in chat, mostly actual nerds, no. The broad demographic is too casual to even notice any similarities, so we can't include this kind of "gamers"
