Metroid Prime 3 FLOPP?

Oh well, doesn't surprise me, Lemmingspot gave a game that recieved 9.5 and above everywhere but here, got a low score.

While Perfect Dark Zero got overrated here, yet everywhere it flopped.

As far as I'm concerned, The Wii has LoZ:TP and MP3, while nobody gives a crap about Warioware. Bioshock deserved higher than Perfect Dark Zero, and negative visa versa.

Gamespot reviews are silly now.

I think that view is pretty much shared by all now, Gamespot has lost all credibility with the reviews they've been putting out lately. It really does take the fun out of this place knowing Gamespot reviews are no longer credible or accurate.

They havn't lost credibility. Gamespot is just going through growing pains because of the new ranking system.

The new ranking system has seriously wounded them. Their best chance at regaining lost credibility is to revert back to the old system while re-rating games is not so much of a chore.

Who here actually wants Gamespot's reputation to diminish? I certainly don't.

Well I've never considered them inconsistent, always bang on after playing the games for myself. Something I can't say for any other source, but thats me.

This IS ownage no matter how you spin it, but to be honest I saw this coming a mile ago. But all this new "originality" crap from GS is worrying me, what if GS gives Halo 3 an AA?SpaceDragonMan

I dont see why this is a problem, Old graphics, "nothing much improved over the previous 2 metroids" , "Controls can be easy yet unresponsive" no multiplayer, very little replay alue unless your a hardcore fan (same with bioshock) ...

I like what this website does, they are more critical, in an age where brand names and sequals reign supreme they are the only ones with enough balls to give it what it truly deserved..

I would accept that argument if it wasn't for the fact that...

1. The written review for Metroid Prime is bad compared to other sources.
2. Metroid Prime: Hunters outscored it.
3. Warioware Smooth Moves is more highly recommended.
4. The new ranking system is abysmal.

Gamespot aren't harsh. They're bloody random, and a bit naff.

But the way reviews are going round here is pretty stupid.

you aren't getting the term FLOP right, if a game flopped, it doesn't mean the game is bad, it just didn't met the hype.

but still, MP3 scored a nice score of 8.5 which means it's a great game, get over the score.

besides, hunters got a better score because the standards are different nowadays.

and if you want to blame the new scoring system for giving lower scores, just hype the games to get their scores lower according to the new system.

All I can say is Welcome to PC game treatment, many of our classics have scored AA here instead of AAA but have been consider some of the best games ever in thier specific genre.

I have no sympathy for this, it was branded as "Not much more to it than previous installments" then it doesnt deserve AAA statues by default.

I have no sympathy for this, it was branded as "Not much more to it than previous installments" then it doesnt deserve AAA statues by default.

What are you rambling on about?, Metroid Prime scored 9.6, Corruption is just as good and scores 8.5, it makes no sense. And a game doesn't have to reinvent the wheel to be AAA, if that were true then only about 10 games in history would be AAA.

Gamespot underscored Bioshock and Metroid Prime Corruption, FACT. The player review average, and the critic average on gamerankings puts this game around the 9.3 mark, maybe even higher. People who say this game isn't AAA are only fooling themselves, the rest of the world has spoken and this game is AAA.

Get over it.

It is already at the 9.3 mark at a 5 review clip meaning it will only go down from there. I wouldn't be surprised to see it go down to under 9, but who knows. At least the Wii finally has its 9th title with an 80% or above at Gamerankings. It was a long time coming. Who knows? The Wii may just catch the PS3, which only has 14 or 15 at Gamerankings by the end of the year. Of course the mighty 360 has 61 and counting.

I am not a Metroid fan and dont particulary think the Wii is a great console. However, I do believe that the Metroid games are pretty good, and just like Bioshock, when everybody is rating the game .5 to .10 higher then Gamespot goes and gives it the score it does... well.

Gamespot has lost it with reviews. Even a lemming can see that Metroid deserves more than AA.

Metroid Prime 3 didn't flop. Metroid Prime 3 succeeded quite well putting all their hard production work into it. Metroid Prime scored 9.7 and the sequel 9.1. There's hardly any criticism at all. In the beginning on the Gamecube people were sceptical whether Retro can turn SNES Super Metroid into a successful 3D game. 'Cause of that hype, everyone succeeded quite well. The sequel was as good as the previous with minor criticisms of multiplayer. In this game (Metroid Prime 3), the gameplay should be less stressful which is a good thing but the action context doesn't always work too well.
