Better buy this shit fast!
I'm super excited.
Never played this and never been much into metroid but damn that's such a good price for three games. Esp since they're out of print and go for nearly a hundred bucks.
@Salt_The_Fries: Just make sure you use the proper region's online shop, if you use the NA shop to buy it, you'll get an NA code, and that doesn't work on a EU console.
To add, scalpers take a hit with the retail versions price going down on eBay.
It's not like it ever was expensive to begin with, because Metroid Prime Trilogy can easily be found for less than $50 as is. It's not exactly the big time collector's item as many would like to believe.

It was selling for $300 on ebay.

lol., no. Only an idiot would actually buy it for that much. Even a sealed copy can be bought for significantly less.

It wound't reach those prices if sealed copies could be bought for significantly less, supply and demand and all that.
Since the announcement of it selling on eShop the ebay copies aren't selling for more than $40.
@RR360DD: It's a Wii game running natively, so yeah, no Gamepad support, since Gamepads didn't exist back then.
I didn't know you bought a Wii U! What do you think of it?

Except they can. Every now and then you can spot outrageous prices attached to old sealed games (even worthless ones), but that doesn't mean it's the actual going price. Even long before this was announced, Prime Trilogy could be bought for far less than $300, I can assure you of that. It's not even that old of a game, afterall.
Incidentally, this is as good a thread as any to et this out there:
Echoes>Prime>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Corruption

Yeah, and where's the proof that anyone has actually PAID what they're asking? Like when I see an article that says an amiibo sold for two thousand dollars, did the payment actually go through or were they just trolling the seller?

So true.
Already own the Wii collection, so I have no reason to get this, Good for those that missed out though.
@Heirren: This is the price it will sell at forever. It's a Wii game, so it won't be bigger than 4.7 GB, I suspect it's closer to 3GB than anything else.

Isn't it 50% off? I thought it was going to be $10 the first week or so and then be priced at $20 after that.

The Metroid prime trilogy shipped on a dual layer disc. Dunno what the size is but it's more than 4.7GB's

Games aren't really priced based upon how old they are. Before this announcement, you simply couldn't find a sealed copy of Trilogy for less than $100 or a used one for less than $60. You had to do some searching to find those prices. Quality Nintendo games that either didn't sell well or didn't have many copies printed are very expensive. I purchased a used copy of Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn last year for $60. That was the best price I could find.
Yeah, turns out I was wrong about everything. 8GB file size, $10 for week one only. Question, is the one week discount applicable to the other Wii games as well, or are those sold at $10 permanently while Prime is sold with a markup?
@trugs26: Echoes is better, breh.
Quadraxis and the Sanctuary are the only things better in Echoes. Everything else is a lesser version of what Prime did.
@samusarmada: On the contrary, it's a far more complex and labyrinthine game than Prime ever was. Prime just gets points for the novelty- in terms of game design, Echoes is better in every possible way.
just bought it.
i have the 3 for the wii and 1 and 2 for the GC but this will save me having to bring out the wii to play the first 2. i will trade my 3 physical copies in.
im kinda surprised at the size of it. 1 and 2 couldnt be bigger than 1.5GB each meaning that 3 was at least 5GB roughly.
also its prime>echoes=Corruption and all 3 are brilliant.
@Heirren: This is the price it will sell at forever.
Nope; $9.99 during first week of release and then it'll sell at $19.99.

Pacing, GG
Also while I like the atmosphere of Dark Aether, let's be clear here Metroid Prime has the benefit of one singular whole environment. Prime 2 is one environment, doubled up with the other one not having the lights on. The puzzles/encounters created with this are genuinely brilliant and satisfying in a way that few games are (and certainly not from lesser franchises like Zelda), but it also creates these arbitrary treks through the environment that ultimately feel artificial and tedious. Prime 1 in its Super Metroid copying glory is more consistent, and all of its level design, sequence breaking and all that jazz feels more natural in comparison.
Both are excellent though .Prime 2 being the richer of the two games, and Prime 1 being the one most consistent in its execution (zelda fetch quest aside). At the least neither of them are Prime 3 or Metroid Other M.

Not directly, but the correlation is how when the original shipment dries out, only individual sellers are left. Prime Trilogy had a limited release, but it wasn't grossly rare.
$60-$100, which is far, far less than $300. I'm not implying that Trilogy was a $5 easy pick up, but rather that it wasn't this holy grail of rarity that I've seen people try to claim that it was. Even with Nintendo inflation taken into account, it wasn't very hard to get a hold of, nor was it expensive.
Was going to until I saw this: The following controllers are required to play this game: Wii Remote + Nunchuck.
Can't go through using those again.
Huh? Wii remote + Nunchuck is the definitive way to play the games. What's the issue?
Meh, they didn't even improve the resolution.
Well, duh. Just like PS1/PS2 classics on PSN.
