Metroid: Samus Returns 9/10 on GS

maybe i needed to play 2 more.... on the NES one i knew everything by heart. on metroid 2 i didn't know where anything was. The metroids charge at you crazy in 2. in the NES game no enemy charges at you except the last stage metroids.

@superbuuman: That would be nice. It is promising to see series like Fire Emblem and Pokemon appear on Nintendo Switch which have primarily appeared on dedicated handheld consoles for some years now.

Hopefully the same goes for the next Animal Crossing game (after the mobile game, that is). :)

@jumpaction: Fire Emblem has had plenty of console games, though. Just not with Wii U.

@REVOLUTIONfreak: I know but the last three entries in the franchise were all handheld titles. There hasn't been a HD Fire Emblem game yet.

@Black96Z: Game length means basically nothing for a 2D Metroid title, since a lot of the appeal of the series comes from speedrunning these games.

The first run may take people 9+ hours, but give people a chance and they should be able to shave it down to below 2 hours.

@charizard1605: amazing. I remember playing and beating original metroid prime on the gamecube. Graphics were top notch for consoles back in the day. This side scroller looks great as well, reminds me a bit of castlevania another series that is awesome on the 3DS.

@Planeforger: i know speed running is a big part of Metroid. With the original M2 it only had a game length of 4 hours. And i was originaly concerned that this game would be too short.

I wish they would have put this on Switch or at least port it at some point.

My GF told me she'd ordered me this, because she knows my love for Metroid. To my surprised when it arrived this morning, she'd actually gotten me the Legacy Edition, as well as both Amiibo.

Also, if anyone's interested in my code for the original GB version, send me a PM. I asked my GF if she wanted it, but she said she'll just try the new one when I'm done with it.

If the game had appeared on PS4 under a different name, it would've gotten 4/10 and lot of dissing. But since it's Nintendo product, everyone had to give it huge score... So sad, what game journalism has become. IGN, Gamespot, theyre the same...

Bought the game last Friday and I've been enjoying the game quite a bit so far.

One little detail I dig is some of the Metroid Prime sounds being used in the game. Also the melee counter is pretty satisfying to use, especially is you use it on an enemy while in the middle of shooting another. I even used the melee counter twice in succession one time.
