Have to say that playing through metroid prime on the gamecube was one of the biggest chores I have ever had to go through... so much pointless backtracking and uninspiring battles. IMHO it does not hold a candle to Halo, Half Life, Resistance, Gears or most FPS's. Sheep talk about nintendo innovating then lets see how much they change the metroid formula aside from the controls. dblin
A) Metroid Prime isn't in the same genre as Halo (FPS), Half Life (FPS), Resistance (FPS), or Gears (TPS), so anyone who compares them this way ends up owning themselves.
B) Innovation? Really, where's the innovation in Resistance? Halo 2? I can't really talk too much about Half Life since I didn't play it much, but from what I know, Half Life wasn't the most innovative game ever, either; just the best put-together and complete FPS.
The fact of the matter is, the first Metroid Prime was extremely innovative. Have you ever played another game like it? Please don't mention any of the above games, because if you do, you'll only look ignorant. I have no problem with you not liking the style of gameplay in MP (which rewards exploration and backtracking more than the mindless slaughter of enemies), but to call it not innovative is just blind. Maybe Metroid Prime 3 won't be that innovative, but so far from what I've played of Halo 3 (the beta), it isn't either. Sometimes the important part of making a sequel is refinement. We'll see how they do on that...
