MGO Beta Discontinued Outside of Japan....Starting Date = TBA

We would like to thank all players for their keen interest in taking part in the beta test.
However, we regret to inform you that due to extraordinary levels of traffic from all around the globe, we have been unable to run the service to the level we expected.
As a temporary measure, we will be deferring the start of the US public beta test until we are able to stabilize our server.
We would like to apologize for all inconveniences as well as confusion caused.

We would like to add that due to the above reasons, we will be making the following changes to the schedule:
1) Starting date: TBA. We will be making another announcement on 22/4/2008 23:00(PDT)
2) Beta Test closure: This will now be on 11/05/2008 at 24:00(PDT) rather than 06/05/2008 at 24:00(PDT)

IMPORTANT: Please note that your voucher code will only be valid up until 05/06/2008, so please make sure to register them by then.

Kinda like what happened with the Halo 3 beta, isn't it?

Not a huge deal. Rather they get their server traffic sorted out than continue to have things break for the rest of the beta period.

Almost the exact same thing happened. People couldn't get in the first day, so after spending a day fixing it, they extended the beta 4 days.

It is delayed indefinately as of now, according to the official site. An announcement will be made Tuesday regarding the new start date.

Like I'm surprised, I finally got to play 6 minutes awhile back and then got disconnected right after.

Its fun but the servers are a nightmare.

Like I said in one of the other MGO beta posts. What really bothers me is the fact that this beta was associated with reservations. I guess it could be said that is better then using a full game to bait people, but while I did not like Crackdown it did get solid reviews and a lot of people do like it a lot.

But Kanomi should have seen this coming from a mile out. And they should know that associating it with a reservation would turn into something more then just a simple public beta.

But most gamers are just annoyed and ticked because they were really anticipating a chance to not just play MGO, but get a shot at a first hand look at the MG engine in action on their own tubes. It did say in the online manual I checked that it sported the same visuals and such as MGS4.

I dont know about you all, but I rarely bother to go out and reserve things anymore (I only have GameStop, not to be associated with Gamespot, in my area. And I hate them) and I took the bait.

And bugs are one thing, and lag another, but the servers going down as soon as populations start hitting? After they must have had a rouph idea from the reservations how many people would slam them? It does seem like a half assed effort to me. But after I am not ticked and annoyed I may feel differant.

What are you doing in place of a beta? I am not ready for bed so I am.......

Not as bad though. With the Halo 3 beta, you didnt need like 500 different IDs. Plus im pretty sure it was only delayed by a day, yet extended by quite a bit. Im disappointed though, i have my Konami ID and Game ID ready and the beta downloaded:(

Wow that's BS I pre ordered this game for nothing. I may go get my money back because I can go and get the game cheaper from somewhere else. The only reason I preordered it was because I thought I could get in the beta.

If they used PSN ids it would have worked, believe me.

Also, it's good that it happened, due to the fact I wouldnt like these kind of errors when I get the real game. I still dont know why I have to register a KONAMI ID when we have PSN ids, so you can use the Sony logging servers... then it wouldnt have happened (most likely).

shucks, you really think opening up FOR FREE to the rest of the world might have cause some sluggish problems?!?! tell me more /sarcasm.

i dont mean to pick on you but really, Konami really underestimated the whole, idk, gaming community when they open a free beta then say "Whoa, whoa, whoa! Why are all these people here?!? DELAY!"

I guess atleast its just the BETA and not the final version... gives them a chance to fix up problems so we, the gamers, can play the final product smoothly. If I actually paid for this and it crapped out like this then I'd be pissed but since its free who cares.

I got to see the MGO gameplay at the NY Comic Con this past weekend. Didn't get to play unfortunately, too busy with the panels and shopping at the con. Looked good. Still this is a BETA and this is what happens during BETAS. You work out the kinks before release.
