MGO Beta Discontinued Outside of Japan....Starting Date = TBA

How on earth is it a gimmick? You get a free beta when you reserve the game. Beats paying 60 bucks for another game just to play it and THEN paying another 60 for the real game you wanted later that fall.

I've already noticed the haters getting their slogans ready. So apparently the MGO is boring. This of course coming from people who haven't played it. Brilliant.

Not a huge deal. Rather they get their server traffic sorted out than continue to have things break for the rest of the beta period.

People are really just rabidly trying to find anyreason to poop on MGS4 and anything affiliated with it. How soon they forget Halo 3 wasn't too smooth of a beta either. They need to deal with the problems NOW so that on June 12th everything runs without a hitch.

And from what I heard about MGS3s online multiplayer was not boring. This nonsense about MGO being boring really needs to stop. Where are they getting that from? Honestly they just make stuff up out of nowhere sometimes.

Actually they get a bonus DVD when they gave $5 to preorder the game, and I don't think there are many people that are willing to preorder a game to get in the beta but have no intention to buy the game. So cows spent nothing, and got a bonus DVD in the deal.

Besides the halo 3 beta had problems on day 1 but were resolved your MGO beta is down for the entire US until a TBA date. Atleast we hao played had a 60$ full game to play while waiting while your MGO tester just watch blu-ray movies :wink:

Lets see. 5 dollars for a preorder you would've made ANYWAY or sixty bucks for a game they wouldn't have purchased otherwise.

Yeah...cows really got ripped off on this deal. As far as I'm concerned they can cancel the beta tomorrow and we lose nothing. We keep our preorders for the AMAZING MGS4 and have our bonus DVD's of Saga Vol. 2. The beta is a bonus gift. We didn't pay for it.

The only thing I can say about the beta is that the graphics are pretty good actully not gears of war but like a mix of call of duty with the MGO graphical styling mixed in,

I was really talking about making different user IDs just to get in a beta. But if you can't even get in a MGO beta in April, imagine if it was over the holidays.

And I doubt lemmings would get jealous, because there's this superior version killer app huge openworld sandbox game coming out in a week that they'll be too busy playing.

At least Konami was kind enough to extend the Beta until the 11th.

You seem to be forgetting that sony doesn't run the servers for anything but there own games, even resistance servers which sony paid for are run by insomniac and not sony themselves.

People can complain all they want but PSN being free doesn't have anything to do with game servers, they are still run by the companies that make the games, so basically if they want you to jump through a thousand hoops to play there game then you do it if you really want to play it.

PS3 also gets GTA4 by the way, so superior version (like many will care) or not they still get to play it.

Actually, I didn't like Subsistence MGO very much. It wasn't very fun.

A lot of the problems with the game came from the interface, though (no way to really aim while moving, having to hold 4 buttons to aim, things like that). Considering they overhauled the controls for MGS4, MGO might turn out much better.

I look forward to playing the demo, but if this is any indication of what I'll have to deal with every time I want to play the game online (login psn, user id, password, login konami id, password) then that's totally lame. The more games that start to do this the more annoying it's going to become.

I'd much rather pay $50 a year for a unified online system than deal with this for any of my games... I have both systems by the way, and this would be unheard of on XBL. For the record I'm not referring to the server issues, I'm referring to my annoyance with the multiple login ids and passwords for different games.

1) Start date: Planned for 04/25/2008 24:00(PDT). While the start is planned for the weekend, it may change due to unforseen circumstances.
3) Beta Test closure: This will now be on 05/11/2008 at 24:00(PDT) rather than 05/05/2008 at 24:00(PDT)
