[QUOTE="Not-A-Stalker"]MGS is a Splinter Cell clone?
Metal Gear invented the freaking genre. :|

Im kinda reminded of that comment about Mario being inspired by Ratchet :P
wow why didn't u sig it?
This game will suck to normal people. It's an exact clone of Splinter Cell, without the Splinter Cell feeling of stealth. MGS version of stealth is pulling out your AK74 and mowing down 10 super soldiers, and the guy across the street can't even hear you. MGS version of stealth is tobreak some dude's moaning like a school girl neck, and the guy right in front of him can't hear.
And most importantly, MGS version of stealth is:
Teh barrel roll.

I doubt MGS4 garners nearly as much of hype Halo 3 got, nor debut sales numbers. I still remember how MGS 2's debut was eventually overshadowed by GTAIII.
But I'm bias, aside fom the first one on PSX, the MGS series has bored me.

So a square is a clone of a circle, since circles created shapes :\
Yeah. Great logic.
I see some1 is bored with the 360.

O it was actually one of the developer's of Ratchet. Said something like it was good to see other games inspired by Ratchet, and mentioned Mario Galaxy. I suppose because they're both platformers in space :D

i think its because of the magnet boots part and how the whole world turns around when u r using them...but yeah, its one hell of a stretch.
Uh...
Splinter Cell is like MGS' bastard child, full of America RULES KILL TERRORISTS and other crud like that. MGS has a plot developed by a mushroom junkie on a trip around the cosmos, but at least it's not splinter cell.
hell ive got a wii and 360 and even the most dimwitted of people know if ANY game wont flop its MGS4 theres NO chance of it flopping.....ITS METAL GEAR for crying out loud.beerm_basicSheep said the same for Zelda TP :D

damn, i was just about to give my best argument yet and the tc dies on me. such a shame.

It's astounding how many people in this thread don't know how to read. The TC never said that MGS1, 2, 3, 4, or any of its spinoffs copied Splinter Cell. He's saying that MGS4 is copying Splinter Cell. MGS4 is coming out AFTER Splinter Cell, therefore that part of his argument is correct. I won't give my opinion on either game since I don't like the genre, just correcting some of the foolish arguments that MGS came out before SC when that was not what the topic was saying.
Splinter Cell is an exact remake of Metal Gear Solid. The developers have even stated that they were inspired by the original Metal Gear Solid while making Splinter Cell.
Metal Gear Solid 4 is similar to Splinter Cell in many ways, but it's not an exact clone. The combat and gameplay still have that unique MGS feel to it, and the game still has boss fights (whereas in Splinter Cell, there are 0 boss fights).
MGS is not as stealthy as Splinter Cell, this is fact. But in reality, why would you want it to be like Splinter Cell's stealth? If you get caught by a platoon of guards in Splinter Cell, you're pretty much screwed. In MGS, you at least have a fighting chance. This isn't super-duper realistic like Splinter Cell, but I think I'd rather be a badass (with a mullet!) then some **** who has to rely on "teh darkness" straight from Tom Clancy's imagination.
I fail to see any likeliness between Splinter Cell 1-2-3-4 and MGS 1-2-3 Do you? But I see some STARKE similarities between MGS 4 and Splinter Cell 1-2-3-4.usmcjdk6
Starke isn't a word. You may be thinking of "stark" and not even know it!
But MGS4 has been remade to cater to whiny Splinter Cell fanboys like you. And, unfortunately, you still hate Metal Gear Solid when it's trying to act more modern. Pathetic.

[QUOTE="l-_-l"][QUOTE="usmcjdk6"]Sorry, but it is the other way around. Splinter Cell (which I like more than MGS) is a clone of MGS.This game will suck to normal people. How can an Stealth/Action game be a clone of an action/adventure with a few stealth mechanics?
O right, it can't be.
Sorry, but you fail. Try educating yourself on your video game history, then maybe we can continue this discussion, but not until then. I refuse to debate with ignorance.[QUOTE="SergeantSnitch"][QUOTE="usmcjdk6"]Like I said, MGS4 came out before Splinter Cell? -dies laughing-LordMontezuma

Funny how blind game fanboys will automatically try to twist your words to discredit you.
This thread is ****c. I clearly said MGS4 is a rip of Splinter Cell, then they go into complete pandemonium and scream Blood Mary saying how could MGS4 copy Splinter Cell when it came out before Splinter.
Okay fanboys, you provide me my quality entertainment.

MGS fans live in denial. Not only was Thief a better game, but Splinter Cell's stealth cameplay just crapped all over it. MGS fans won't that that go, and they will still call it a stealth game...usmcjdk6
Only someone who hasn't spent enough time with MGS would be comparing stealth gameplay... MGS is about so much more, I don't care about stealth games, and I absolutly love MGS, you little haters round around here talking out your asses, wtf for? Do you think us fans are going to double question if we like MGS now cause of you talking bad about it? What are you hoping nobody else gets into the game? It's an amazing franchise, I know so many ppl that don't care at all for gaming, but adore MGS.
I like to equate MGS to the new movie Lions for Lambs.
Absolute garbage. Great premise, good direction...but the way it is portrayed is nothing but flop and failure. MGS gameplay, ableit fun...isn't teh REVOLUTIONARY. MGS story, whilst out there, doesn't ever really come to any conclusive point, and it presents so many different ideologies that you were better off reading a book than playing that crap for story.
[QUOTE="usmcjdk6"][QUOTE="Magical_Guy"]this thread is a flop, MGS can't be a clone of a game that came out after it.hikari33
Splinter Cell came out after MGS4? lawl.

ur stupidity and ignorance is sig worthy, u soooooo deserve a cookie

You obviously can't even read the title of the thread. You fail.
SC doesn't own that camera view. other games use it all the time.3rd person rather than bird's eye, more active use of cover/concealment, use of new tools, entire change of gameplay tactics.
It pretty much changed it's CORE gameplay to favor that of Splinter Cell. Why? Because Splinter Cell is a better game.
usmcjdk6
MGS was always about cover and concealment, it's a stealth series.
"use of new tools", what the heck makes that a ripoff? there are tools in MGS4 that SC never had.
what "entire change of gameplay tactics" has taken place? at least, what makes those changes aripoff?you hide, or you can get into firefights, same as other MGSs. the improvement is that levels are bigger and the player has even more options to choose from when it comes to sneaking or fighting. not only that, but you are sneaking between twofactions that are at war with each other(aconcept that Kojima wasworking on before SC: Double Agent was revealed to anyone).
you stated your points as if no one has played MGS.
the core gameplay is simply a heavily refined version of Snake Eater's gameplay with next-gen improvements.

More use of cover/concealment? Too bad Splinter Cell "copied" the original MGS when it came to stealth cover system and "more use of cover" is just a natural progression for the game.
"Use of new tools." Damn, that truly something original to the Splinter Cell series. No other game allows you the ability to "use new tools." Man, that's blatantly copying right there.
Entire change of gameplay tactics? Uh no, if you watched the in-game footage, it is very much MGS-****gameplay.
