What bothers me are the ability to freeze time and the regenerating health; they're too unrealistic. However, I don't have a problem with the slow motion takedowns.
BeardMaster
Â
Having only played MGS2, there was nothing remotely realistic bout that game. Maybe things have change since then... but to me it seems the series has never been about realism.
Â
Besides, using some bandages or eating a food to repair bullet wounds isnt remotely realistic in itself. Dont think anyone wants to have to goto the hospital and spend weeks or months recovering everytime their character gets injured.
I agree that the previous MGS games weren't realistic, but I was under the impression that this iteration of MGS would be, hence my adversity to time-freezing and regenrative health.[QUOTE="seanmcloughlin"][QUOTE="Cyberdot"]
Oh dear. What a way to ruin a great franchise.
Mr-Kutaragi
MGS4 already destroyed a good chunk of it
Also at least wait and see the gameplay before saying it's ruined
MGS4 is AAAE average. Weak damage control. Obvious the franchise is dumb down because multiplat and not all gamer are sophisticated as sony gamer. I hope doesn't dumb down story and dialogue as well, but probably will. Chainsaw gun incoming.MGS4 is bad, deal with it
Info from Polygon: Apparently, Kojima Productions will communicate some HUD information through the environment to help Snake stay stealthy. For example, while the pathway of searchlights that can expose Snake's position can be seen pretty clearly, when lens flares from those lights slash across the screen, it's an indicator that Snake's in danger. Snake can turn those bright lights on enemies to his advantage. If he takes control of a searchlight, he can shine the beam on enemy soldiers, distracting them. When engaged in combat, he can flick on a flashlight attached to a gun to momentarily blind his target. Here's where things get more interesting: Snake attempted to distract a patrolmen by tossing an empty gun magazine close to his position, then leaped down from the roof. To his surprise, another soldier previously out of sight was waiting for him. When Snake was spotted, the "!" alert alarm sounded and Ground Zeroes kicked into slow motion, giving Korekado an extra second or two to line up a shot and fire a silenced round into the head of the man who spotted him. Despite being spotted, Korekado was able to diffuse the situation before the alert spread.TheGuardian03
Yeah and the slow mo was introduced to be a crutch for stealthing because the game is now open world so easier to get detected than previous linear MGS games. Also there's no radar so I understand why it's in there a bit more now
This game is trash without David HayterCapitan_KidDavid Hayter's voice acting sucked after MGS1. Proven fact.
Kojima said they were playing on an easier difficulty and that the effects of regenerating health would be more pronounced on easier difficulties.I'll watch some more gameplay before judging, althou regenerating health... meh :S

Seriously, preople are making way to big a deal over this. The slow-mo is probably turned off in higher difficulties as well.
Install base. Why did they even bother putting it on 360 and PS3...
Why not just all next-gen/PC?

Apparently we get a "next gen version" demo next week of the game. So we can see it decked out like it should be

Cos people don't jump ship when a new gen hits and leaving people behind like that is money lostÂ
Health regen doesn't bother me. Â MGS2 had a small form of it with bandages + laying down and MGS3 has it with full stamina. Â Plus you usually had so many rations it didn't matter.
Now the slow mo, time freezing shit? Â I really need to see that in action first, but it doesn't sound too great.
also according to the demo shown you can fast forward time past all the boring parts.
and 90% of it is boring parts that developers decided to ff through when they showed it to the world.

Oh thank god for a second I thought they were doing the Splinter cell Shit with the words on walls.
I hope the changes listed in the op are being blown out of proportion, really wasn't a fan of black list.
[QUOTE="Obviously_Right"]Sad but True. Incredible how you can assume this based on a sensationalized headlineAnother formerly great series casualised for the Xbox audience.

Halo 1 is one of my favorite game of all time, but this is like if I said Halo 2 suck despite high scores. You are in denial. Should not cry, dudebro MGS is on the way and I'm sure you will have so much fun doing slo mo kill and headshotting every enemy.Just want to leave this here.
This is some sample work of the new mechanical designer they hired.

I m a mgs fan since i was 11 years old, i m 23 now. **** hideo, **** kojima, **** that new voice actor voicing snake, **** mgs5. MGS died with mgs4. I m not even hyping this one, heck i ve only seen 1 trailer and that was enough.

I know, it looks so bad ass too.
At the very least, this game will be a technical marvel. Â Kojima Productions is hiring some crazy talent and they're using a lot of bleeding edge software and techniques.
I just hope there is a great game hidden under all that insanity.
I firmly believe (read: hope) that there will be a setting that will let this be turned off.
Â
Edit: Also, regen health was there in a limited fashion in MGS2 and full blown in MGS3 & 4. It didn't break the game and made it possible to do a no ration run. No problem with it at all.

Oh yeah no doubt, I'm still holding out hope mgs5 will be badass.
regenerating health? WTF is this sh!t. I also read on another forum the exclamation mark is gone!! (sound still there!)campzor
Hmmm, haven't heard that about the exclamation mark, but wouldn't be surprised either. Â Kojima wanted to do that with MGS4 at one point.
But both MGS2 and MGS3 had regenerating health (bandages + lying down in MGS2, full stamina in MGS3) and you usually have so many rations it doesn't matter. Â Besides MGS1, health depletion has never been a big factor in these games.
I don't think regen is really a big deal. Â If the game is really open world, I think it makes more sense to have it that way.
