MGS4 is overrated

i have played the game and i can tell you this is the most borring stealth (wannabe action game) i have ever played, the gameplay is OK but the cutscenes oh man what a borring snoozfest scenes in any game ever and some took must than 30 minutes and then when you start playing 1 minute later other large and borring cutrscene I mean WTF?

the framerate in the game is just hilarious, in some parts in the game the framerate gets a 10 fps (mostly in explosive parts and a lot of stuf going on)

most overrated game evar.

I wonder how much SONY paid, gamespot and IGN.

Hey MGS has never been a series everyone can enjoy...I know one of my friends is hating it right now, he has no idea whats going on, he thinks he needs to shoot at everything that moves and yea....

I personally think its the best game ever released.

I only saw it dip once in a cut scene when there was an explosion with crap load of things flying in the air.

Phew! I was beginning to worry nobody thought the game was overrated. No topic on the first page that talks about it aside from the stickied one that has all the MGS4 discussion in that.

Its a good game i just hate all those damn cutscenes.Im having a very hard time following a story that im not really all that interested in in the first place.I know that the metal gear series has always been heavy on story but i just never got it .Ive never enjoyed a japanese games story,there just to wacky for my taste.Also im not a big sci fi fan but ive always enjoyed metal gears gameplay.I really like the game i just wish there was more of it and less movie.

Damn guys, the cutscenes are my favorite parts. A game can really touch you with a thick plot and story.

Anyhow, it is easily the best game I have ever played and the only game that I would say is worthy of a 10.

You may regard the gameplay as being OKAY, and the cutscenes as boring, but as surprisingly enough the game has alot of fans who enjoyed this game alot. I admit, I feel a 10 is a bit to high, but I also think most games are overated, so if reviews are going to carry on giving off ridiculously high scores then a 10 fits MGS4 perfectly.

Although all the things you've said are over exaggerated, you still have a point that MGS4 is overrated, same can be said about GTA IV. MGS4 isn't for everybody, it's really for the Metal Gear fans, and gamers who have lots of patience.

Every game needs to do what it needs to do to tell its story, but unfortunately, the Metal Gear series always needed the help of cutscenes to tell it's story. And in MGS4, it just enhanced that. All I have to say is don't play the game while you're tired, because you will fall asleep during these long cutscenes.

Also, there were parts in the game, where you were watching the cutscene, and you're getting ready to play, but you realize after the cutscene was an in-game install that just leads you to another cutscene. Like I said, you just gotta have patience and be a MGS fan.

It is overated,but only in as much as no game could ever live up to the stupid amount of hype and praise this game has received.

So no game should ever be rated high, ever? Cause every friggin great game is "over rated" to every one. You know I've played most of the big games and I didn't think any of them were over rated. Halo 3, Gears of War, Super Mario Galaxy, Metal Gear Solid 4, and Bioshock. All amazingly crafted games worthy of their high scores.

The only game right now I'm not gettin the score for is No More Heroes. Maybe I'll change my mind by the end. Now THAT game is over rated. 9.0? really gamespot? REALLY?

How long did it take you guys to beat? I beat in under 15 hours without skiping cutscenes. My friends were telling me its a 20 hour game. Im wondering how i did it.RyanShazam

On what difficulty level did you play? Did you play stealthy or did you run n gun it?

On Solid Normal without skipping cut scenes it took me 21 hours.

I took 17 hours, some people clocked in 10 hours after Act 2 :o

Im goin to have to agree perfect 10? No. It may be a good game in its own right but not easily picked up by newcomers, which means it doesnt deserve a perfect score. But does anyone notice that highly anticipated games get perfect scores now and days?Airacomet

So if a game isn't easily picked up by newcomers its not perfect? Its called a learning curve. I guess since most people are too dumb to appreciate Citizen Kane that isn't a masterpiece either.
