I think you should try it out again, it's a great game.
For me I'm pumped about MGSIV because MGS, MGS2 and MGS3 were all terrific, and since MGSIV is the last in the series I expect it to be another amazing entry in the franchise.Â
is it all one big storyline or is it seperate story lines./I think you should try it out again, it's a great game.

Dont flame me for this but I have only played a couple of hours of MGS3:substance and I didnt find anything unique about it or so cool. So Is it just me and should I try replaying the whole game or is the game awesome and cant wait till MGS4?Cornerstore
There's your problem. You started with MGS3. Go back and play the first two. Teh third is great too though.

You don't need to play the other entries in the game to understand MGS3, but all 3 stories link.Â

One big. I would not play MGS4 with MGS3 as the only background you have on the series. You should probably get your hands on the rest.Â

either way, each MGS game has its own set of themes, characters and location to understand. But playing 1, 2 and 3 would make everything click.

well out of all metal gear games (not just solid) the third takes place after metal gear 1 and 2, making it the third in chronology, so even if he did need it to uderstand he pretty much has the earliest oneÂ
It's all about the story. It's like you're playing at actual blockbuster movie. The dialogue, character development, plot, etc.. is unmatched; blows away any other game.
The game-play isn't anything to brag about, but that's not why it's so great.
If it was up to me, I wouldn't recomend anyone to get into MGS by straight jumping into 4.tegovoltiogamers wouldnt understand the emotional impact of the *suppoused* death of Solid Snake if MGS4 was their first. I wouldnt recommend it either.

I was just trying to say that you should play 1 & 2 before you play 3.Â
Honeslty, I really liked the second more than the third. That doesn't mean I disliked the third. I give MGS1 a 9.6, MGS2 a 9.6, and MGS3 a 9.5.
i disagree. Its gameplay is unmatched as well. Maybe your not really into slow-paced games. It's all about the story. It's like you're playing at actual blockbuster movie. The dialogue, character development, plot, etc.. is unmatched.

I probably would, but only if he played MGS3 only. I mean come on people, just imagine how the series would feel with you only playing MGS3 and then MGS4 shortly thereafter. It would probably feel more confusing then playing MGS4 as the first in the series. Â

MGS 1, 2, and 4 all focus on Solid Snake
MGS 3 and Portable Ops focus on Naked Snake (Big Boss)

[QUOTE="Cornerstore"]do you guys think i should get into these games since I might be buying a PS3 soon?Onizuka36
Of course! MGS4 is one of the the best games coming out for the PS3 and MGS as a whole is one of the greatest game franchises out there. What's to lose?
I know it probally is and everyones talking about it but the only thing to lose is the 600 bucks but I know the PS3 is a great systemdo you guys think i should get into these games since I might be buying a PS3 soon?Cornerstore
It's up to you. It seems as though you're not liking MGS3. The other MGS games are very similiar. If you like one, you're going to enjoy them even more as you uncover what's going on in the story.

With the PS3 you can get MGS2 and the 3rd one. If you're interested in the series, I don't see why not. Anyway, getting the original will prove to be difficult, so do you have a GC or plan on buying a Wii? If so then you should get the remake for the GC if not, then... Well good luck, tho the internet is your friend when it comes to this stuff. Â

Nope, I like all types of games. Don't get me wrong, the MGS series is in my top 10 all time favorite games list.
But the top down view, can't see what's 5 feet infront of you gameplay that is MGS is kind of outdated imho.

it jumps around... a lot. Hahaha good luck trying to keep up with the whole story. Just stick with the story with the game you are currently playing, and then try to figure it out. Beware, head explosions may occur.Â
[QUOTE="Cornerstore"]how long is each game?the-very-best
About 12-15 hours each I'd say.
Â
I played the first one for about a year haha.
Â
And oh my goddd, I remember I played the 3rd for-EVER because I was too lazy to go buy a memory card for it, so I seriously left my PS2 on for weeks and weeks and weeks, haha totally worth it though. I eventually found an old memory card thank god.Â

It's not that hard to keep up with. Although MGS2 can get a bit confusing since it gets all philosophical and preachy.

yeah, I remeber playing it and the ending literally blew my mind. I remember I was seriously running around naked (as raiden) and i was stuck in a tunnel and people kept talking to me over the intercom and saying the WEIRDEST things. and I finally got out somehow.
Â
MGS1 and MGS3 weren't too hard to follow, but the over all story is a tad bit confusing. It goes from Current, to more future then flash backs, to the cold war. and now it will be in the future. Either way, the games are amazing.Â
