I haven't heard anyone say it was coming to 360 in awhile, and with FFXIII recently being announced for 360, I expect the rumors of MGS4 coming to 360 will increase. I could care less if it does personally. I played it on PS3, beat it and promptly sold it. It was a great game in Act 1 & 2, after that it became a great movie.

Sarcasm?
Didn't Sony say the same thing about Final Fantasy XIII?
Regardless, MGS4 will not come to 360 because the 360 can't run it but rather because Sony Pictures will be producing the MGS Movie.
They said the same thing about FF13. Sony saying MGS4 could not be made on the 360 means nothing.rybe1025
If Sony is so sure that it won't be going to X360, I think it's more of a "we bought exclusivity" than anything else.
Obviously they didn't buy FF13, hence why it's now mulitplat. My guess (and yes it's a guess), you had MS pressuring Square and Square coming back to Sony asking for the same deal Konami got for MGS4. When Sony said no, they made a deal with the devil.

I think you may be right...
OF course it will never be on the 360 for all of you who never played the game (which is obviously a lot of you) you should know that it even says so within the game itself that teh game the MGS4: Guns of the Patriots is intended for exclusive use only on the PS3.

Jul 15, 2008 9:21 am ET E3 08: MGS4 on Xbox 360? Ask Konami, suggests Microsoftby Jim Sterling on 07.15.2008You can imagine Microsoft is feeling pretty smug about yesterday's "MEGATON ZOMG SQUARE-ENIX BE TRAITORZ" announcement that Final Fantasy XIII was heading to the Xbox 360, but in case your imagination wasn't enough, here's what Aaron Greenberg told reporters following the event:
We have a white board that lists all of the games people said we'd never get. That list is getting smaller.
At the very top of the white board, one has to guess that Metal Gear Solid 4 sits itching to be wiped off. FF XIII was a huge coup and a few people are feeling that Guns of the Patriots can only follow. When asked about it by MTV's Stephen Totilo, Greenburg was coy, merely laughing it off and suggesting that it was "a question for Konami."
Oh Greenburg, you sly devil, you. What does Destructoid's E3-following community think? Is MGS4 a matter of time for The 'Soft, or will Sony hang on to arguably its biggest exclusive?

lol, and if Sony paid them instead, they wouldn't care. As many have pointed out, it's a business decision. I think hardcore gamers that only have an X360 would have purchased a PS3 to play this game.
It's all a guess but Sony's statement about not caring about growing their installed base and would rather focus on profitablity.......couple that with not paying exclusivity probably forced Square to look for a deal with MS.

I don't think it has anything to do with paying exclusivity or what may have you more than the fact that the 360 has better software sales then that of the PS3. Not here bashing the PS3, but if you look at charts the 360 sells a lot of software. I think that square e just looked at the figures, looked at how well games such as Final Fantasy have done and they liked what they saw. I think if MS ponied up a lot of cash we would have heard about it.

Sony Pictures and Sony Computer Entertainment are not dependent on one another.
Konami could take MGS4 to the 360, but it would require more work and effort for what could be a huge hit, or a giant flop. Add to that the cozy relationship Sony and Konami have had, and I doubt we will see MGS4 on 360.

Sorry, no I got what you were saying. I only quoted you since it was relevant to the topic I was talking about, and it was close for me to click! :D
I'm not even going to bother thinking if it will come or not...sony says it wont, other say it is inveitable mr smith.
"Following last night's shock news that Final Fantasy XIII will release on Xbox 360, VG247 has been told be a very senior UK industry source that an 360 version of Metal Gear Solid 4 is "inevitable".
"There's only MGS left now: for a few months at least," said the mole. "It's inevitable. Konami knows how many million they'd sell in the US alone. If FFXIII can make it to 360 when Sony owns nine percent of Square, Metal Gear's a slam dunk."
Kojima has constantly said that the game isn't transferable to 360 as the Microsoft console uses DVD as opposed to Blu-ray.
Money, as everyone's mother used to say, talks."

You're wrong, they paid Konami...they got exclusivity even though PS3's installed base has been rather pathetic.
Yes X360 sells a lot of software but I personally believe this had nothing to do with it.
How about this, remember Square released all that info about exclusive RPG's and timed exclusive titles on the X360 a couple months ago? When people asked why X360 was getting all the titles first or exclusive they specifically said they didn't want PS3 to be so dominate this gen. Basically they were saying Sony has FF exclusive so this is a way to even the odds. Now it's multiplat. If as you said they are looking for just software sales why int he world would they make exclusive only RPG's for X360? And don't get me started on timed exclusives because I know from talking with 3rd party devs that if both versions don't street at the same time, it will hurt sales tremendously (in this case, PS3 sales).
So please don't quote me on "it's all about the software sales" because it's obviously not. If it was they would be releasing EVERYTHING multiplat day/date.....they are not. They are favoring the X360 A LOT....infact X360 is going to have like 3-4 RPGs from Square by the time PS3 gets ONE lol. I have no doubt MS greased the wheels for all these exclusives/timed exclusives because that's the ONLY THING THAT MAKES SENSE (according to your "software sales" logic). Sony didn't pay them, they too MS's offer (whatever it was). I'm not saying MS paid them truck loads, but paying them anything would probably have been enough if Sony shunned Square.

The point is more that Sony like most major companies with a series of divisions have often had one group help out the other, And within Sony its been fairly common, even within the PS3 you have an intigrated Blu-Ray player.
I would find it very hard to believe that Kojima who has wanted to take his vision to the screen, and Konami who would stand to make a very nice tidy sum if Metal Gear Solid was given the Summer Blockbuster treatment by Sony Picture, would not have even had the topic broached of making sure that the latest installment of the series did not stay Sony PS3 exlusive,
Sony loves the cross marketing, and being able to launch a repackaged version of MGS4, or and updated version of the previous incarnations leading up to the movies release would be a very strong way to move software and help promote the movie, and I very much doubt that Sony Picture's wouldn't care whatsoever if their marketing push on the movie helped sell additional copies for a their PS divisions competitor if it was ported over to 360.

Link? Your make many assumptions there and while not necc. wrong, that does not mean your assumptions are correct. The 360 is easy to program for, thus lower overhead. Higher install base means more sales. Sames like simple math to make some projects exclusive to the 360. See how assumptions work?

You are right of course. But to me personally it would be more surprising if MS didn't pay SE than if they did.
 oh my god, sony saying a game is only possible on the ps3....what a shocker!!!Dante2710
Yep, they didn't only do it for FF either, I recall Sony claiming that DMC4 was only capable on the ps3, and we all know how that turned out.
The same exact thing was said about another CERTAIN game that MS announced would be coming to their console this past Monday....
