It is weird how Microsoft for some reason will never state this to America. They have to make it secretive and put it on a dutch tv show.

http://n4g.com/xbox360/NewsCom-35218.aspx

http://www.nu.nl/news.jsp?n=1043103&c=55

After more than thousand complaints of Xbox 360 users, Microsoft has admitted Saturday night that there is a flaw in the Xbox 360. That happened in the Dutch television programme "Kassa". The flaw causes CDs and DVDs that are spinning in the player to get damaged.

According to a press declaration from Microsoft, the Xbox 360 can cause scratches. Initially the company denied to be guilty for the damage. Microsoft kept saying for months that the gamers themselves are responsible for scratches on the discs.

After research on the Xbox 360 it was determined that the scratches occur by the lack of a so called "bump pillows" at the lens. From the data of "Kassa" it would concerns a worldwide serial of approximately 1 to 2 million Xbox 360 consoles.

In the consumer programme "Kassa" Microsoft promised to offer aid to users who have complaints in the form of repairing. It is however not possible to get a new console.

 TCHBO. Or whatever.

I don't think I was unlucky enough to get one of these disc-scratching consoles. My first console was one of the hard drive failing consoles.
Dangit, M$ sucks. Just give me something I can rely on. I'm purchasing an extended warranty from M$ soon.

*sigh* As if the ROD weren't bad enough, 360s are now scratching up game discs. That is some shoddy hardware.

Cause you two = 10 million 360 owners, right? Still, 1 to 2 million owners are estimated to have these faulty drives. That's 10-20% of owners. That's a significant number.

I've not had any issues concerning disc scratching, but I have experienced the RoD twice, malfunctioning USB ports, and a malfunctioning ethernet port.  Currently, I'm on my fourth 360. :?

Good question, maybe the PS2 was really popular back then, or MS is really good at covering their behinds or maybe, not yet?

I can't believe cows still bother even trying yo offer any input here. I owned the bovine nation last week.

FACT: MS has acknowledged hardware problems and is doing something about 14 months after launch.

FACT: It took Sony 5 years to acknowledge their hardware problems and it only happened AFTER a class action lawsuit was filed and they were forced to.

You cows can continue to add your pointless spin (bu bu bu teh DRE's weren't as bad) but it doesn't change a thing.

BTW, cows, you continue to spew out the lie that the 360 has the highest failure rates in the history of the industry. They're not even close. You have no legs to stand on, so just leave with any iota of dignaty that your self delusions provide...

I do see someone defending microsoft for this garbage, and makes me think that you are the fanboy, not me.

DXGreat1_HGL

Owned? No legs to stand on? Self delusions?

Seek help. These are video games we're talking about. MS doesn't care about you. Sony doesn't care about you. Nintendo doesn't care about you. If you were a less obnoxious person, you might have friends. One of your friends might own a competing console. Realizing that you can have friends with different tastes without your head exploding is a pretty amazing, and freeing, experience. Give it a try.

P.S. The "bu-bu-bu" stuff is ridiculous and unoriginal by now, too.

P.P.S. LINUX > WINDOWS, PWNT!

wow its ownage that MS admits that discs can be scratched if your an idiot that wants to dance with your system while a game is playing

yet if this was sony talking "its the users fault for putting a game in it"

when in reality THIS IS A PROBLEM CAUSED BY THE USER, and MS takes the intire blame, how nice of MS, what a good company

[QUOTE="Spartan070"]

[QUOTE="Rob2223"]i have 25 games, none scratched. Zhengi

16 360 disks and over 50 Xbox disks, none scratched.

Cause you two = 10 million 360 owners, right? Still, 1 to 2 million owners are estimated to have these faulty drives. That's 10-20% of owners. That's a significant number.

Exactly. Its only claimed to affect 10 - 20% of users.  SO chances are you're not in the mix

Wrong. The drive inside the X360 is faulty. It doesn´t have the requirements to play games totally safe. 10 to 20% of the Xbox 360´s scratch discs without something done wrong. How is that the users fault? Microsoft admitted in Kassa that you do not need to move- or do anything wrong with you're Xbox 360 for games to get scratched. Just because you don't have a problem doesn't mean it doesn't exist. I've had two 360's send back because of disc scratching and still have two unplayable copies of Gears of War.

10-20% thats 1 in 5/10. You may have one of these faulty drives, just not happened yet. One day your precious GeOW or future copy of Halo 3 may be scratched.

It is my fault for stating the news? And that it is my fault that microsoft is somehow not trying to fix the problem? And I am at fault to be angry? I can't believe how you could call out cows for being the problem here.

Also dignity is spelled with an i in the middle not an a.

If you're not a cow, why are you so worried about it? BTW this is the 3rd thread posted about this topic in the last 18 hours or so....

I don't care. Do you see any care? I thought cows were xbox fanboys. I have no clue the identities here. Until someone helped me out. I am just reporting the news, about ps3, xbox 360, and wii. I have a little preference, but I do own all 3 consoles, and a pc.

I do see someone defending microsoft for this garbage, and makes me think that you are the fanboy, not me.

Fine, I was talking about the Sony fanboys, not you. I feel they are gypocrites for trying to make any fuss over it...

If the PS3 turns out to have any flaw, you'll be all over it, won't you?

[QUOTE="Sully28"]This is living....AccordingToMe

I dont see it anymore, but previously you had listed "It's better to burn out then to fade away" as a Kurt Cobain quote. I just want you to know that Kurt Cobain was quoting Neil Young in his suicide letter, a line from the song "My My, Hey hey (Out of the Blue)

yeah you said that on another profile, but the question is who lived up to those words ? yeah neil pretty much faded, kurt is the icon.
