Yeah... Obama disbanded Nasa.... the prick... ugghh... Too bad, I wish my kids could know the wonder of the space program... now its run by greedy corps who fly rich guys like Richard Garriet on tours at zero G. Isn't this like Sony's "the power of the cell - doing super computing with multiple ps3s networked togeather in tandem? It means f@k for gaming.

Thank you Jon.

If I'm reading this right, maybe they have specifically chosen this test as it might totally saturate a ADSL2+ connection.

But I still feel the cloud is a moot point anyway. Sony, Nintendo, Valve, Ubisoft - anyone could make a game which has local maths supplemented by cloud maths.

Not to mention that if a gaming rig couldn't perform this demo as the OP implies then it is obviously using more server power then each individual X1 is likely to be allotted anyway making it an unrealistic demonstration of the X1's abilities.

A gaming rig can though. http://en.spaceengine.org/

Those things are nowhere near the same. Space Engine does not real time render anywhere near the amount of objects that NASA was, nor is that it's purpose. It doesn't render small stuff. And unless you're near something it just renders based on Hippa/Tycho catalogs.

There's still SpaceX by Elon Musk. I have a lot of faith in SpaceX.

Cool. Maybe a year from now NASA can help them launch their unsold consoles into space.

So MS and NASA teaming up so that they can spy us not only from that little Kinect but also from Mars? Be careful people.
