Microsoft: Azure Cloud Is Available To Every Game, Including PS4 Exclusives

That's actually really interesting. A game like Titanfall 2 can still be using the MS Cloud even if it became multiplatform in the future, then, and also, it means that there is the teensiest bit of a chance that Sony will move PSN on to Azure, and it will stop sucking so much.

Related, I don't know why, if Microsoft is so open, they won't allow cross platform play in games between their platform and others'.

@charizard1605: well MS and Sony are directly competing. Doesn't make much sense to allow their player bases to play with each other. Xbone does have cross platform play with PC though.

That's nice Microsoft but the PS4 doesn't any extra power to run games at a higher resolution and better framerate than your underpowered hunk of junk.

Because one is for developers, one is for the gamers. Cross play between consoles is for the gamers = No, using Cloud = good for developers.

It is obvious it is a server rental basically if the reason many developers haven't jump into it,the whole free azure support for xbox one probably included a clause about paying latter on or making the game exclusive for a few months,else if you want to use it like any cloud from other 3rd party MS just charge you for it.

I don't think sony will do that any time soon when they have their own thing.

Very few games support it,unlike the PS4 which supported it from launch and continue to do so,Rocket League is a great example which MS refuse to allow cross play,even with PC.

Why should they? Sony used way better Amazon Web Service before. Now, they're on Rackspace's OpenStack. Oh yes, lems thinks that Azure is the best cloud service around. LOL Didn't XBL were down this year pretty often? So much about Azure stability.

Microsoft isn't the only or even the best option for renting servers.

They actually have the best cloud services platform on the market.

It is. This isn't a misconception where little kids think bigger is better and then you come in and tell them " think again".

In the case of cloud service when it's bigger I also mean in variety...certain parts of the structure for example let's say VM and storage....each of these two parts can get more support because it's bigger...It's logical. Because it's bigger it means increased support for each feature the service provides. While in terms of servers overall Azure isn't the biggest...it's still AWS but Azure is catching up very quickly.

PSN would be able to handle it's load much better if it hooked up to Azure, it isn't just about using cloud compute to increase framerates and resolutions it's about the stability of the network as well.

Hooking up to Azure would effectively give SONY an extra 300,000 servers to pay with.

It also means SONY could handle DDOS attacks much better.

You SONY fans sure like to cut off your nose to spite your face.

You don't Want SONY to hook up with the best cloud infrastructure on the planet just because it's run by microsoft.

I'm quite sure this has to do more with MS as a whole than Phil Spencer controlled Xbox division. Basically it is not his decision.

One of the reasons TF was great was because of the cloud. The online was just fantastic, and contrary to some of my past experiences with other games that used physical dedicated servers, I can hardly remember experiencing any server issues like lag and disconnects with that game.

Somehow I doubt MS would allow all Sony copies of TF2 to run on their servers without them getting anything in return. But it will be an interesting development for sure as far as TF2 on PS4 is concerned.
