My only question is why would anyone bother getting a BD accessory for the 360 when you can get just get a stand alone player?

Well, one reason is that you could watch a movie and still be connected to LIVE (Getting invites, updates, and maybe even be able to use the "movie theater" feature while watching blu rays).

Though I must say, it would be quite hilarious if yet another different format starts to be used by Sony next gen. (Though that's obviously not going to happen)

It will probably be as much as a PS3 Slim...

Also, if they make this, they can't use Blu-ray for newer games, because most people won't have it. I could careless about watching Blu-ray movies too, so basically it's useless.

Aye that's why I was thinking about it at first, but then I realize that Blu-Ray is still in its infancy, and I'm sure that they'll still support it next-gen, I don't think a consumer is going to want to switch formats YET AGAIN so soon.

Unless they're stupid, they'll make the price $150 at the most. You can get stand alone BD players for $200 new nowadays.

The use of a hard drive is pretty much required now and many people have no HD. You understimate M$ willingness and capacity to milk their consumer base.

Lemmings didnt buy HD dvd addon, so why waste money making a blu ray one. i know MS is scared now, since PS3 is out selling themm now, but come on MS, instead of wasting money on addons, waste money on actually making a exclusive game. Your library isnt that great any more, espeically when sony has been racking up on AAA+ exclusive game this gen.

I'll believe it when I see it. Ballmer's been known to get ahead of himself, and it's hard to imagine MS bringing out a BR add-on when they already have 1080p streaming (I know HD streaming isn't as high quality as BR, but 99% of people can't tell the difference).

Bought 2 dirt cheap and about 40 HD films for £80 at the end of its life....Very happy....

f they did go down the Blu ray add on route....a serious shake up of MS' accessory pricing needs to happen it wouldn't be able to retail for more than about £70 (and it would have to support True HD)

since Blu Ray players are now offered in the UK for about £130 with 3 new releases

Blockbuster will be offering a Samsung BDP1580 with Terminator Salvation, X Men Origins and Fast and Furious + £20 worth of rental vouchers for £130!

Minus the £45 worth of Blu ray will make it £85, and your 360 won't suffer so many mechanical problems from overuse

......then again, it could be designed for the fact that some people want Blu ray and don't want to buy a PS3
