LOL what a load of crock
This topic is locked from further discussion.
its not, there was rumors before. you cant just get up and say lets lower the price, and lower it the next day
These rumors have been circulating for a while. I'm guessing once the PS3 slim rumors started, then MS began planning a price drop, but there is no possible way that MS can plan a price drop in a week. Businesses just don't work that way.
Uh-huh.
Why do they have to play innocent? I don't think less of them for keeping competitive pricing.
lol, coincidental my behind :P Anyway, good that they're cutting it. aaronmullanIndeed, my buttocks that was coincidence. But it might drive me to go out and actually buy a 360...
[QUOTE="aaronmullan"]lol, coincidental my behind :P blazndragon0Indeed, my buttocks that was coincidence. My ass that was a coincidence.
I wonder why they felt they needed to comment. They have nothing to be ashamed of (not regarding this anyway).
Do they really think we are that stupid?djsifer01.............Errm. Well, when RROD first hit, MS did say it was the user's fault......
Is that why they anticipated for Sony to drop the price at E3?
They were waiting to respond to Sony's price cut since the rumors started:roll:
Honestly who cares if this is true or not. We all know M$ is going to do everything they can to stay ahead of the PS3 in sales. They've said this many times. So a price cut is far from being a surprise coming from them. I think they'll drop the price again next year as well. Especially if the numbers aren't up to snuff. i can easily see the Xbox 360 selling for $99 a couple years from now, no problem.http://n4g.com/xbox360/News-385031.aspx

Yeah a price drop sure looks desperate and forced when you have been selling more than the competitor you're trying to beat.
MS has the market strategy in place to match the PS3 price cuts blow for blow. You don't think that they had a room full of analysts and marketing nerds discussing this years ago?
In other words"Even though we are petrified that the PS3 slim, new PS3 ad campaign and PS3 price cuts will destroy 360 sales numbers for September and the rest of the holiday season. The 360 50$ price cuts are purely coincidental, just because we announced them right after the Sony price cuts has nothing to do with anything"

It's coincidential in the sense that Microsoft did not do their price drop in direct response to the PS3 dropping its price.
It's not coincidential in the sense that Microsoft knew a PS3 price drop was inevitable before the holiday season started, and planned a price drop of their own accordingly.

The PS3 didn't release a 1+ year later at twice the price or anything.

That's a good point. It was a bit desperate when Sony dropped their price just 6 months after the PS3 was released. That was seriously desperation to get the PS3 sold. Microsoft didn't do a price cut until 18 months after the XBox 360 launched. lol!! Nintendo still hasn't done a price cut and they still continue to outsell the PS3 2:1. We'll see what sales look like next week.Yeah a price drop sure looks desperate and forced when you have been selling more than the competitor you're trying to beat.

We know and if the tables were turned the Cows would not accept it as an excuse either. I direct you to the Wii's sales numbers 8) Also why has PS3 not been outselling XBOX 360 after launch? The pricepoint I already know is the answer, wow SONY sure does get alot of free passes from its fanboy base.Petrified with a 9 million system lead seems unlikely.[QUOTE="sexy_robot_man"]

It's either behind or it isn't.
Whats the point trying to hide it? Everyone knows they're just trying to stay competitive by adapting to the ps3's price cut.

Why do people always forget PS3 released over a year after 360 at $600...PS3 has been selling just fine as well as 360.

All I'm saying is that the PS3 is selling fine considering it's high price point and it's release over a year later than Microsoft's.
