Would you like it more if it were compared to Too Human? D= Oh wait, you would... >_> :P

Batman in a Too Human type setting :o omg It would work!

That's called Batman Beyond. The show was good so they could make a good game out of that.

Sure, I know, call me Captain Obvious. :P Anyway, I'm wondering if Bungie could really ever move on from Halo as they stated they wanted to do something different but it sure seems hard to walk away from the boat loads of cash that the series generates.

I simply can't wait for Reach but ODST should do the trick for now.

Discuss should you feel the need.

The Story

Microsoft: Halo is our bread and butter photo

Halo 3: ODST is almost upon us, and Microsoft has reiteratedhow important the series is for the Xbox 360, promising that even though Bungie is done with the universe, the universe is not done with itself.

"Halo is our bread and butter," claims Bungie stalker Alex Cutting. "Microsoft Game Studios is the publisher that brought Halo: Combat Evolved to the scene, and we realized we had a good thing going there. It is a center piece for us. We will invest in Halo as much as we can to make sure it's a healthy, respected, fun franchise, and we will continue to do so.

"The Halo universe is obviously very rich in detail. There are a lot of stories to be told there. As far as the future of the franchise, I can guarantee it's something Microsoft is going to continue to invest in and make new products and exciting stuff, but I'm not going to be able to tell you, or even concept what other stuff we're doing."

Have you had enough Halo? Do you believe Microsoft has exploited it too much, or is there still plenty of life left in the franchise? For all the accusations of the series being turned into a cash cow, it's certainly not turned into Guitar Hero. Have you still got gas in your engine for Reach andODST?

SecretPolice

I think you are posting this in the wrong board my friend.

You should know that posts, threads and responses here have been typically Halo hate.

A franchise well known and loved by millions of Lemmings being posted here trying to get approval in Cow central?

hhhmmm... Maybe you can try posting it in ..chan or something.LOL see how they react.

I suggest you wear sunblock cream 1 million and an invincible flame shield with all the stats of W.O.W.

To answer your question.

I'm exited for Halo ODST, Reach, the anime series and hopefully see the Halo movie having Steven Spielberg, Peter Jackson and James Cameron at the helm with a gigantic budget from Microsoft themselves.

sorry to say but I think you have a terrible taste in gaming :D

Cyberfairy

No he is right, well at least for Dead Space, my experience with Bioshock is limited. Dead Space was a 12 chapter game that had a very good length but began to feel repetative. I mean I expected a deeper story from a game that has 12 chapters. Without the pre released digital comic it would have been barren story wise. The Gameplay was fun but it eventually got old getting locked in rooms with monsters over and over again with little character or story development. I fought to finish it so I could trade it in. It had alot of promise but they just didnt wanna try when it came to story in game.

It's the only game I ever ever traded in. I paid 41 for it, new, and got 34.50 from Gamestop for it, so it was actually cheaper than a rental.

Oh yea, all of those DC Bruce Timm animated shows and movies are fantastic, I am looking foward to the Batman/Superman one coming out this month. And to stay on topic, not much a fan of Halo but too many FPS versions of the game might start to get stale.

Yes. Hell I was saying this after the 2004 Halo 2 hype machine.... and then after the Halo 3 hype machine. Seriously, this is not an IP that should swell up and suffocate under its own mass. Give it some damn breathing space.

Yea but has Halo generated a "boat load of cash" for MS or for Bungie. I am sure MS probably has benefitted from Halo's success alot more then Bungie seeing as they don't own the IP and were a first party studio. So basically MS makes money off of every piece of merchandise that has Master Cheif's face on it and Bungie doesn't. Maybe now that they have the power to negotiate they can finally get properly paid for the powerhouse franchise they created for MS. I have a bad feeling if they don't keep Bungie involved and moderate their dipping they will kill the franchise by making to many games by too many different developers and possibly too many different genre's like the Halo RTS.Javy03

maybe, maybe not.

There have been many franchises in history that can take several bad hits.

Star Wars is a franchise that has expanded into all kinds of genres and is still huge.

It has had some less then stellar titles but still goes strong with a HUGE loyal fanbase, merchandising and has been around for many years. It is a cultural Icon.

Halo is just getting started and Microsoft have obviously put a lot of time and investment with all things Halo.

Creating 343 industries to manage and run the helm co-ordinating with many developers, studios, merchandise... all things Halo.

Bungie have stated that Halo is too big for them to handle- though I expect they will can still have significant contributions to the Halo universe franchise after Halo Reach.

Halo is really no longer a game, but a universe franchise.

In order to kill Halo you have to kill:

The games

The novels,

The Animes

The Macfarlane toys

The Board games

and possibly the movie.

oh and of course it's backed up by millions of die hard fans and Microsoft.

The best of that movie was the flashback, old-Batman-animated-series-style. That part was awesome. The rest was just decent..

oh snap. added to netflix queue. yeah, all i can think of, is it's obvious the people who make halo care about quality, it would be awesome to see what other stuff they could do if halo completely stopped being made or considered.

And that's everything Halo *isn't*. Star Wars is a rare phenomenon, Halo is a popular video game.

Honestly I don't think its an IP that can sustain such a thing - rather do more harm to it.

Though I say that owning a toy Rocket Warthog...

exactly my point.

Though we may think it will collapse-this has been said many times before since Halo's inception 8 years ago in 2001. They have all been baseless and not completely with out bias.

Yet it has continued to grow and so has it's fanbase. It is also supported obviously because people continue to buy Halo products.

How can some thing like Halo be harmed when people keep buying things Halo?

an example of an cultural icon- Halo ws inducted in the house of maddam Tousen.

Halo is actually well known and when these Halo legends anime and hopefully the movie come out it may catch on to the minds of millions outside the Video game industry.

There have been a few other franchises that have succesfully grown across many medias.

Star Treck, War hammer, Lord of the Rings.

Anyway exactly how is Halo being harmed?

Yeah I can get sick of Halo too, but you can get sick of many things if you live and breath it too much. I just simply take a break from it and come back into the Halo Universe when I feel like it.

Halo will still be there and in many forms.

Halo is big but I would never compare it to Star Wars, and I am not even a fan of Star Wars. Star Wars has heavily influenced a generation which is now currently responsible for the media we are enjoying. Yes it has had some bad games but with such a vast and large universe there is something for everyone. For the originalists you have the original trilogy, the next generation has their trilogy and animated series. Both generations have had toys and the franchise has expanded into pretty much every form of media and entertainment. Halo is new and it's universe and story is not very big. Heck I mean Metal Gear has a bigger universe, longer following and has been in many forms of media and entertainment and still doesnt come close to Star Wars. The list you gave me is still new. Many franchises have toys, that doesnt mean long term success, Macfarlane toys like to make toys for cult favorite movies as well. There is one novel I believe and the anime hasn't even released yet. This franchise is extremely new and so far is most popular in the form of it's games. If the quality of those dwendle, all the toys, 1 anime and novel won't save it. You see, Star Wars is a successful franchise that dabbles in video games. Halo is a successful video game who is trying to create a broader franchise.
