ATTENTION PEOPLE!! RROD is a conspiracy! Here's how it went down. Bill Gates needed more money. Sony was doing fine with the PS so MS decided to try. They did OK but the over all plan failed. They needed more money. See Bill Gates wasn't planning on donating his profits to Charity. What he was creating was a laser cable of eating away a particles at a subatomic level, a deathray. The tech is in place but first he needs a rocket and alot of cool metal to complete his death star and put it in space. All he had to do was create a great console with one flaw. 50% would fail. A 3 year warranty would encourage people to buy one without fear of it dying. If successful they would sell 100mil Xbox 360s and finish Bill Gates' death star. Only 1 problem, Nintendo was selling much more and preventing MS from succeeding. They then would use the money they made to buy out the media. They could then Nuke Nintendo and have the media blame Iraq. No questions asked. Now all they had to do was win the Console war! Too Easy :P

1st. Microsoft does NOT extend your warranty if you send it in for RRoD repairs

2nd. Anybody I've heard of with 1 RRoD ends up with 7 or 8. The refurb RRoDs easier then it did originally.

3rd. The 3 year warrenty ONLY covers the RRoD. Any other issues with the console fall under the 1 year warranty and wil NOT be fixed.

Inflated sales number give the skewed view of a larger market share. Makes the console look better then it actually is. If they've sold 30 million consoles but 15 million of those are people buying the console a second time. their market share is only half what they report. But these number still make the 360 look better then the PS3. This was a strikly anectdotal arguement here. AS in, NOT fact.

enygma500

If the numbers are so inflatedby people re-buying 360s due to RROD, then we wouldn't see such a huge gap between software sales of the 360 and PS3 most likely.

PS3 for most people was their first blu-ray player and nothing more. considering it was less then half the price and performed 3 times better then stand alones. I'm fairly certain that the PS3's attach rates have been steadily increasing as sales go higher. I could be mistaken by this though.

Whereas the 360 is pretty mch stricktly a gaming console as well as USUALLY having the better version of multiplats. IMO it makes sense the 360 would be seeing a higher attach rate.

Also, factor in cost. After buying a PS3 you're too damn poor to afford anything to go with it, lol.

Strictly a gaming console? Well, MS has a movie store, as well as integrated Netflix. Last FM is coming as well as integration with Facebook and Twitter. A feature, that has been available since launch, is that it is a Media Center extender. Which, I personally use all of the time to view recorded shows, digital copies of movies and play music from my library. Having a Blu-Ray drive doesn't make the PS3 a better multimedia machine. Just because 360 does not have a BD palyer, doesn't make it any less of a multimedia machine.

Doesn't anything under warranty if sent in for repair get the same treatment? My brother had same troubles with a dishwasher he bought.

Sorry, I tend to forget about the usless features. Well they're useless to me anyways. I'm sure many people, such as yourself, use them to their fullest extent.

I don't even own a 360(PSwii owner here). None of my posts are fact. This is just why I think MS hasn't fixed the RRoD yet. Way to make me look less credible though:evil: lol.

AH HA!, I countered this post by posting that I had no intentions at implying that MS intentionally put the RRoD in the console. But it was a very entertaining story none the less. kudos to you.

I agree completely TC, a couple of friends bought new 360s when they got the RROD. They had them for less than three years when that happened but the problem is that in my country 90% of the people import their consoles since buying one here is ridiculously pricy. So they had their warranties invalidated. I know that in most latinamerican countries the same or similar things happen so it is my believe that 360s sales numbers are way inflated.

If you're asking whether or not the company will extend their original warrenty plan, the answer would be no. Generally speaking no company will do this. They will warrenty the work they did for 90 days, plus let you keep any remaining warrenty time you had left. They don't stack on top of eachother, they overlap eachother.

[QUOTE="-Pred-Alien-"]Losing $1 billion mustve been a lot of fun for MS then:roll:The__Havoc

Don't bother speaking business terms here. Some of these guys will say throwing away a billion is a good idea because Sony threw away billions as well.

Fanboys complete brainwashed themselves.

Did you even read the post? or are you just assuming I tried to take a jab at the RRoD? Come back again when youi learn to understand english.

As clearly stated in my original post I'm NOT implying that MS created the RRod intentionally. But they did know about it. And if they wanted to fix it, they could have by now. I also stated that anybody believing otherwise is clearly a lemming...Now THAT was implying something.

Also Sony didn't extend any warrenty to cover the DRE's BUT they did fix the problem. I never forgot anything. You seem to think that the PS2 was plagued with the DRE for it's life, when it wasn't, unlike a certain MS branded console we all know and love/hate.
