This new update has really annoyed me, they're not even trying to improve xbox live for us it's all about finding new ways to make money. 400 MS points for a lightsaber, 480 for a cog outfit it's pathetic and I feel sorry for anyone who buys this stuff or the heavily overpriced games on demand.

you realize that they did not only add an avatar store right? they completely revamped the movie watching, added the ability to give games a rating, and added several new dashboard pages.
I noticed they updated the achievements section in the in-game dashboard without looking for improvements. I just sort of stumbled upon it. So they improved something at least.

Some like it, I personally see nothing that improves on accual gaming.
the 100 friends list limit has been addressed numerous times. Simply put, MS would love to change it, but its hardcoded into ALL xbox 1 games. This wouldnt be a problem if so many people didnt play Halo 2. Changing the friends list limit would cut off support for all original xbox games. The rumor is that MS will do it after ODST is released, thoughlol i see nothing important in this update. nothing that improves a gamers experience.

All it is is a page showing the games you've gotten all the achievements for. pretty lame. UI Improvements
Some parts of the dashboard have been slightly re-organized to make it easier to find the things you're looking for.* Indie Games - We listened to our community and have decided to rename Xbox LIVE Community Games to Xbox LIVE Indie Games. User ratings are also available for Indie Games, allowing you to share your rating for a game and use ratings from others to find great new games.
* Achievement Browser - Launch a game directly from the Achievement browser making it even easier for you to max out your Gamerscore.
* Achievement Tracking - A new All Games view inside the Profile panel includes a summary of Achievements earned across all the games played, and shows off all your completed games.

The nice thing about those silly chargeable avatar items is that you are not required to buy them. I have no desire to spend real money on my avatar, so I wont buy anything for it. Not a big deal. If some people like that stuff, let them spend their money on it. Doesnt hurt me.
If I had 400 points left on my account and their was nothing coming out in the near future that I wanted I would definatley get a light saber or something. It's not a big deal I personally wouldn't go out and get a 1600 point card and blow it on Avatar stuff but left over points sure why not.

I completely disagree with the whole 'don't buy it' argument, its a load of crap. Yes you are not forced into buying it and i will never buy it, but are people really that short sighted not to see the effect that this has on the whole marketplace ecosystem? If the big wigs at MS see that people are willing to pay for this stuff it has a knock on effect that arcade game I was looking forward to suddenly becomes £5 more expensive. People buying this stuff negatively impact every person that doesn't. Just look at Activision's pricing of MW2, how long do you think it will take for other developers to follow suit just because people accept the £5 or so increase? This is why I think that people have a right to complain.

You don't have to buy it unlike Live costumes,avatars miscs, etc.. are entirely optional. You don't need it to enjoy your Xbox
It's a business, period. You as the consumer have the choice to purchase or not.This new update has really annoyed me, they're not even trying to improve xbox live for us it's all about finding new ways to make money. 400 MS points for a lightsaber, 480 for a cog outfit it's pathetic and I feel sorry for anyone who buys this stuff or the heavily overpriced games on demand.
