Yes, Sony isn't done with the current generation but, I don't think that's the reason why they've been quite.
They just aren't ready to blow the lid on PS5 until they've nailed down their transition plan.
A successful transition of the PS4 user base to PS5 is Sony's #1 priority. And if they do it well, they'll continue to crush it.
Ex.
- All of the top 100 played games of the last 24 months are playable AND upgraded on PS5 (+ many PS4 exclusives).
- The rest of the PS4 library should at the very least be playable on PS5.
- Offer limited edition / exclusive bonus content for the top F2P games to PS4 and PS5 owners.
- Continue to provide premium content up on PSN+ and PS NOW.
PSN+ has built up quite the library of games you could have added to your library with a press of a button over the past few years.
Ex. COD: WW2 (this week), Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, DiRT Rally 2, Shadow of the Colossus, Bioshock: The Collection, Titanfall 2, Nioh, Outlast 2, The Last of Us Remastered, Batman Arkham Knight, Detroit: Become Human, Borderlands: The Handsome Collection, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, For Honor, Hitman, ONRUSH, Bulletstorm, Destiny 2, God of War III: Remastered, Dead by Daylight, Mafia 3, Heavy Rain, Beyond: Two Souls, Bloodborne etc.
^ All of these games are in my digital library.
If you're a PSN+ subscriber, it should be a no-brainer to upgrade to PS5.
^^^ All of this is the story Sony needs to tell.
