Good. Japan doesn't give a shit about MS and i don't see why MS should care about Japan. For once MS did something rightsilversix_

Halo and Gears series sell more in Japan combined that almost all western game combined. Japan barely brought the last of us.The japanese dont want no american games. Now if they made more dating sims or Karoke games then maybe it would take off.
Kinect 2 dating sim - boom million dollar idea! Xb1 needs a vibrating rubber women peripheral.

Japanese play shitty games, good for MS not catering to those overacted sentimental movie games they got going on over there.

Why would you say such a stupid thing, without japanese games the industry would suffer, plus it's much better then that western crap :P
You make a list of all the Japanese developed AAA (metacritic) titles over the last 2 years... and I'll make a list of all the western developed AAA titles.
Of course we can save each other from wasting our time and you can admit that Japanese devs are no where close to delivering great experiences like Western Developers.
There is only one problem with your theory tough, the metacritic score doesnt mean jack sh*t nowadays since it doesnt really reflect the quality of a game anymore. And why is that? The reason is simple professional critics nowadays are full of sh*t who score a game depending of its hype rather than its actual quality most of the time, because if metacritic had some credibility garbage like Dragons age 2 wouldnt have a positve score right now on metacritic.
I say Ni no kuni, dark souls and Xenoblade alone destroys everything the west has released in 2 years. Im not saying western games are "crap" tough, I actually think both Japan and the West are important to the industry
Japan is irrelevant, and no one cares about their games. This is a fact, and I have papers with data that make this fact reality.PresidentRickorWow. The stupidity on System Wars never ceases to amaze me.

Secondly, relying on Metacritic as the standard for determining what are "great experiences" and what aren't, is, in itself, irrational.
And thirdly, a majority of Western AAA games today are exactly what sebbi11 accused Japanese games of being: "overacted sentimental movie games".

The Call of Duty games sell a lot better in Japan than both of them combined... but that's mainly because Square Enix is publishing them. Western games published by Square Enix usually tend to do well in Japan.
Don't really see anything wrong with this. Japan doesn't give a crap about MS.
Japan seems to be moving away from consoles actually. More into handhelds.

Thats funny. Are you japanese? Live in japan? If not how is it you speak for a entire nation?
Or are you just assuming things because they sound good to you in your head?
Last of us has been a big seller in japan http://www.gameinformer.com/b/news/archive/2013/06/29/report-the-last-of-us-sells-well-in-japan.aspx
Western games dont normally get huge sales in that country because they have half the population that we do, that coupled with being an entirely different culture on the other side of the world just not a lot of american games make it there. When they do they sell really well, but to americans unless you sell atleast 16,000,000 copies of a game then youre a failure.
Bottom line is, you dont know dick of what japan wants.
Really OLD NEWS. Where the hell have you been since May's XBox One reveal? Microsoft said that back in May at the reveal. It's been confirmed for almost 2 months now. Japan launch will happen in 2014, which isn't a big deal since Japan gamers could care less about it anyways. Microsoft is all about the U.S.http://www.dualshockers.com/2013/07/02/microsoft-no-xbox-one-in-japan-this-year-tier-2-country-asks-journalist-not-to-report-negatively/
The Japanese gaming site 4Gamer still managed to grab an interview and to ask whats up with Microsofts upcoming console in the archipelago of the rising sun.
As part of the interview Microsoft Japan President and CEO Yasuyuki Higuchi confirmed that the Xbox One wont land on the Japanese shelves any time soon.
"For the launch of Xbox One Japan is a Tier 2 country and not a Tier 1 country, so itll come with the second wave, that will be delayed a little bit [compared to North America]."
When the interviewer pressed him to confirm that the console wont be launched in 2013 he did just that.
"Thats right. Itll launch after the Tier 1 markets."Â
Microsofts executives knew they were walking on eggshells as they talked to the press, since the Xbox brand isnt exactly popular in Japan, and when the reporter concluded the interview telling Microsoft Vice President and Executive Officer of the Consumer & Partner Group Haruaki Kayama that hed wait for further information on Xbox One soon, he responded laughing:
"Yes, so please dont report too negatively."Â

This is the kind of genius marketing that's going to win over Japan.
they are not going to win over japan, not now and probably not ever, but saying its a tier 2 country makes them seem butthurt they couldnt enter their market.
Couldn't enter their market? Then sold over 1.5 million XBox 360's in Japan. The most units sold for a game console released by an American Company. I don't remember the other U.S. companies that launched in Japan, but none of them sold over 1 million units, that's for sure.[QUOTE="Jag85"]

Like any American Console had any chance of winning in Japan. Please go play your crappy Japanese games.Â

In fact, the Japanese mobile phone market was equally impenetrable for foreign brands, yet the iPhone still managed to crack that market. There's no reason why Microsoft can't do the same with the Japanese gaming market.
I love when people argue against Japan accepting American products and fans bring up the iphone. You throw 50 darts at a board and one sticks.. and all of a sudden you're an expert darts player?:lol:
Â
Bottom line.. when it comes to video games/consoles.. they stick to the local brands. Period! M$ did everything right with the 360.. opposed to the original XB and japan still didn't buy the system. Don't give me that iphone nonsense.Â
They did almost everything right. They had offended the Japanese at the last conference then had in Japan before launching the original XBox. Also there are words in that begin with X in Japanese that are offensive. That caused a lot of concern as well. Several things like that killed their chances in Japan. They can still sell a couple million units, but it will never sell like the PS brand. If the same thing happened with the PS4 here in the U.S. , we would be on even ground. If i tried selling my product in a place that'll barely sniff it for ten years I wouldn't go out of my way to cater to them and I'd most certainly categorize them from a business sense as a tier two country.... Good move Microsoft. They've rolles the red carpet out to Japan twice and got spat on each time. Anyone holding ms reluctance against them is pretty much an ass.... TheEroica
^^This^^ Can't blame MS at all after how Japan has treated the xbox brand.

And yet the Japanese love Hollywood movies, American pop music, American computers, Apple's iPhone, etc. Why should video games be any different? In fact, the Japanese mobile phone market was equally impenetrable for foreign brands, yet the iPhone still managed to crack that market. I remember reading about how the name "X1" has negative connotations in Japan...Here's What People in Japan Think of Xbox One
Â
Japan has very little vested interest in shooting people of Arab or Russian decent and saving America from non-Americans.
They tend to be more interested in creative ventures... thus they Nintendo and Sony.

How is that specific to the Xbox 360? And to be fair, the PS3 has sold no where near as well as the PS2 or 3DS in Japan. Does that mean they feel more or less the same about the PS3?
