@Pedro: Yes sir I do
What rules? You mean the kind that have always existed in resolution, a resolution is set, it always conforms to what it is set at and can therefore be disclaimed as what it is...
Shadow of Mordor cannot maintain its resolution, it falls to sub-native rendering resolutions. So if this game operates at 80% of 4K to 4K, should we average that? Should the average be its resolution?
You can't seriously sit there and consider something with a dynamic frame buffer as a native 4K render, you're reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaching....
It's a 4K game that drops in one particular part of the map for less than 1% of the game. I think it's safe to call it a 4K native game.
But about this? Is Halo 5 a 1080p/60 game?
Yea, if the Game is holding 4K for 85% of the time I would consider it 4K.
Nobody cares what you consider something, something either is or it isn't.
You're right in my hypothetical example the game would be 4K 85% of the time so yea it's 4K and apparently the industry agrees with me.

It's not a native 4K title, it's a game with a dynamic frame buffer targeting native 4K.
@Zero_epyon: The price is fine for me. Especially after i paid $500 for the OG XBox One/w Kinect. I think the Xbox One X is a much better value then the OG XBox One. Microsoft is probably going to have some bundles or trade in program at the end of the year , which would be great.
XboneX is a joke. Costs more than my GTX 1070 and still runs games at 30fps and can't do Native 4K in every game.
You're clueless as usually. The games can all be done in native 4K. Not every developer wants to do that. You can't blame Microsoft for what other developers do. Microsoft never said every game would run at 30fps or 60fps. They said all the 1st party games would be native 4K. So far, that appears to be the case. They said 3rd party developers can us whatever resolution and fps they wish to use. Some may want their games in native 4K, some may not. So the JOKE is on you.
Do you buy a $500 gpu to play in 30fps? No one does. Their premium experience is probably compared to their laughably speced Xbone, not a true premium experience.
So you buy a $500 GPU to run at sub 60 FPS? Because at 4K that's the reality you're looking at in most games even with a GTX 1080, roughly 45 FPS.
Logic evades this board.
At least he can play Destiny 2 in 1080p at 60fps on that $500 GPU...
Yeah, with $600 or more encompassing the rest of the PC attached to it.
It's worth it. 1440p 144Hz>>>>>>>4k 30-60fps.
Useless for most HDTVs with 60 hz limit.

hurr durr
People said $399 because MS had an exclusivity drought and a competitive price point would put the ball back in Sony's court. It's not $399 and MS still didn't sway that exclusivity stigma. Between this and paying an extra couple hundred for an upgraded PC with the potential to kit it out in the future, it's a tough sell IMO. Having said that, I still don't like this whole mid-gen upgrade consoles and this is just an excuse to keep on continuing this gen and not trying to go next-gen sooner.
Is $499 really a big deal?
Are people really that poor in the US? I just say the US because most of these $499 posters are from the US.
I'm more concerned about the price of a 4K telly as the one I have now is about 8yrs old, then the price of the console, oh and the Scorpio will be $650 in my country.
When we looked at the overall design, we could do less memory. We could do under-clocked components so we don’t have to have the cooling system that we have in here. There’s any number of things you could think of.
This is designed for the premium gamer that wants the absolute best experience. And so compromising any of those then makes that message much harder to communicate to them. We showed them the smallest Xbox we’ve ever created, the most power, the best price per performance you can get anywhere, in this box. That’s what we’re delivering.
I think if you start taking away some of those items, people will say, ‘Well, what were your goals?’ And that’s an area that we don’t want that confusion to exist.
[at $399] we wouldn’t have been able to usher in 4K to the living room, and that was a design pillar for this box. There’s lots of goals in the program, from compatibility to everything. But one, let’s really usher in true 4K where developers don’t have to think about, ‘Wow, how do we stretch this and make it really work?’ We needed to deliver that to consumers. They asked us for uncompromised true 4K in the living room. And so we leveraged a lot of PC technology, from the cooling, the power management system that’s in this, to get it this small — while managing acoustics. That was the goal.

What do you guys think? As far as specs go, the Xbox One X seems to be priced accordingly. But should they have made a better effort to get the costs down to $399 to allow more people to buy it?

As for the comparisons between the PC and Xbox One X, he said: "If you think about it, it's kind of equivalent to a GTX 1070

4k? And why are you talking about 4k? What other game than Forza that ran at native 4k? No true 4k. No 60fps. $500USD. Great stuff.
Why am I talking about 4K? Is that inconvenient for you now since you realize in almost all instances a $500 GPU is not up to the task at 60 FPS and instead averages about 45 FPS across a breadth of games?
Forza Motorsport 7, Shadow of War, Crackdown 3 & Minecraft are confirmed native 4K, you can expect that from Forza Horizon 3,Halo Wars 2, Gears of War 4, & Killer Instinct, plus there are over 30 previously released third party titles getting upgraded currently which many will no doubt be native 4K as well.
Also, Phil Said he went to 343i and they were tinkering around with the Xbox One X doing some neat things so undoubtedly Halo 5 is going to be overhauled as well as I hope The Master Chief Collection.
When this system launches there's likely to be at least 20 AAA native 4K titles to play, PS4 Pro has 0.
Last time i checked, the only confirmed 4k title (by DF) is Forza. At release, you may get your 20 AAA titles in checkerboarding 4k, forget native. Unable to offer native 4k nor 1080p/60fps. So what's the point of spending $500USD when you can spend $300 and get easy 1080p/60fps with higher assets?
The X is pointless, Nya. No need to cry.
X1X's Shadow of War has 4K resolution.
X1X's Gears of War 4 campaign mode has 4K resolution.
$100 more for a console that will run 90% of the games so similar to the Pro that there won't be a perceivable difference for the majority of people. The hardware may be worth $100 more but the experience definitely not. Microsoft screwed up with this one yet again.
TC you seem very interested in the XOneX, nice to see such passion.
Price doesn't bother me, they say it's 40% more powerful than any other console(which would be the Pro I assume) so it must cost more to manufacture. Seems like I'm getting good value for my money, so I'm good with the price tag.
the console itself is fine. looking at it in isolation its a good console and the price is fair. the specs are very nice for the price. its in a small box. nice controller. developer friendly. no messing. its a good console at a fair price. if i was upgrading from the PS3 or 360 then the X1X would be a tempting box.
but its not in isolation. the PS4 pro is 100 quid less expensive. the X1X does have more umph but will people outside digital foundry really notice? its not a massive jump going from the pro to the X1X. so how are MS going to justify the price premium? as sony already know all to well 4K and HDR are hard to sell over the internet.
@getyeryayasout: If a PS5 came out in 2018 with 8TF and a Ryzen CPU with 16GB GDDR5 Ram it would probably cost about $700 or more. If Sony priced it at $500, they would easily lose a couple $100 on every unit sold. So I don't expect they will do a PS5 until 2019 or 2020. By then the costs will have dropped enough to get the console's price to $500.

What's the setup for 16 GB GDDR5? 512 bit bus equipped PCB with current GDDR5 storage densities?
Each GDDR5 chip has 32 bit bus.
X1X dev kit already has 24 GB of GDDR5 which is 2X the storage over the retail X1X's 12 GB.
The left side = standard GDDR5 configuration. Retail X1X has 12 of these connections and each chip has 1 GB storage.
The right side = clamshell mode GDDR5 configuration. High chance for X1X dev kit has 12 of these connections. Yields 2X storage.
Lol, so funny! But seriously, who asked?
OT: It's a pretty beastly machine -- but that $499 is terrible. Everyone swore it was launching at $399!
The price is not the problem. It's not all MS' fault, there aren't many interesting 3rd party projects coming out to make the purchase of an XboneX worthy for me at the moment. XboneX was supposed to be my 3rd party machine after all, it's the most powerful machine for the job (PC excluded).
Lol, man cows are too obsessed with XB1 X... its kinda weird. And sad.
Well they are just upset because they no longer have the most powerful console on the planet. The PS4 Pro is an awesome machine, but it is nothing compared against the Xbox One X. They should be thankful for the Xbox One X because it will make more developers develop for both platforms more. Right now the PS4 Pro is not getting the best support! My Xbox One X will be for nonexclusive games and my PS4 Pro will be for Sony exclusives. It really is an awesome combo of machines!
@Xabiss: "Right now the PS4 Pro is not getting the best support!"
That won't matter much since the PS4 is actually getting the best third party support by far. Take, for example, those 2 Housemarque games coming to PS4 and none to Xbox. The same with big games like Nier, Yakuza, Nioh or Persona 5. More and more third party developers are ignoring the Xbox because it isn't worth to invest resources for a console that sells relatively low and has an install base that doesn't buy many games other than Halo and Gears. So yeah, with the X1X this will continue to be the case, maybe even worse.

Is that why Microsoft showed off 40+ titles at E3 and Sony only showed off like 15. I think Microsoft is getting plenty of 3rd party support so knock it off with that BS.
But one, let’s really usher in true 4K where developers don’t have to think about, ‘Wow, how do we stretch this and make it really work?’ We needed to deliver that to consumers.
Hahahhahahaa Is official the PS4 Pro is a true 4k machine since 4k means native, dynamic and checkerboard.
XboneX is a joke. Costs more than my GTX 1070 and still runs games at 30fps and can't do Native 4K in every game.
So you're a PC guy now hairy lol.
All cows are PC guys.....when it suits them. Quack is one of the biggest offenders of this
Cows acting like the Pro can hold its own with the One X. Lol.
The damn thing isn't even out yet and is getting the quick cow label of fake 4K. The Pro isn't wowing anyone and has had plenty of time to do so.
One X is coming. Dream now in your lies.
Just like the xbox one could not hold its own against the PS4?
But you have not care for 3+ years and still don't you just care about the XBO X...lol
Dynamic and checkerboard is not native 4k so MS claiming they are delivering and uncompromised true 4k experience is a lie.
@tormentos: couldn't hold its own as in 900p vs. 1080p? Brain dead fanboys and biased media help drive that home.
The true 4K is here and only going to get more numerous. Enjoy your worst versions.
FoxBatAlpha was right about you.
@Xabiss: 40+ titles of which 38+ are also on PS4. The fact is that the PS4 is getting much more support from third party developers and of higher quality and the amount of games shown on E3 have nothing to do with that. I'm sorry but Xbox will have to do much better than Fifa legends if they want gamers to notice them and even that is coming to PS4
@quadknight: The two games you mention will be worse on Teh Pro. Have fun with the inferior version on outdated hardware.
Hahahahahahaa HYPOCRITE....
The PS4 and xbox one says high and you did not care 2 shits...hahaha
3rd party developers are free to use X1X's power for their own creative vision.
Pathetic excuse developers can use power as the want on xbox one and PS4 and PS4 pro that doesn't mean that when a game is not native in resolution that is the fault of the developer Doom has dynamic resolution on both xbox one and PS4 because non of the 2 can hold 1080p 60FPS on the game,so yeah it drops which is a compromise they sacrifice pixels for frames is a trade off and show lack of power to run the game in question all the time locked,on xbox one X is exactly the same using checkerboard and dynamic resolution is the results of the xbox one X not having enough resources to run the game 100% of the time locked.
It is call a trade off and yes it is implemented because of the lack of power, developers having the option to chose mean shit, because if the developer wanted to keep resolution lock and frames it would have to give up quality to do so which again is another trade off.

Sony is scared. Exclusives you ask? How did the PS4 survive the first 2 1/2 years?
.....
With more exclusive games, that's for sure. Cheers!
XBone fans are such a senile beings.
Getting rekt for the past 3+ years has made them unhinged. So many angry and upset lems that refuse to accept facts and just cry and damage control the whole time they are here. It's almost no fun owning them because they make it too easy.
The only person that's been rekt more than you is el tormented. Posting a gif and saying someone is having a meltdown is not reking anyone quack.
