Gee, is it really? You mean more people use Windows than other OS's? Thats a shocker. However. Windows is not essential for gaming on a PC. And if you own a PC, you have Windows anyway, usually. In gaming, Microsoft gains nothing when it comes to Windows. No added sales, etc.

But 99% of the PCs run windows.
mac has 4% market share, linux has 1%. windows still has the majority but i still dont get how you think that them having a large share on a program makes them own the eniter platform.

I have no idea how you're going to prove that. At most, Microsoft has 95% considering the marketshares of the other two companies. At the end of the day though PC =/= Microsoft.

But those PC games can be played on either Mac (but not many ) or Linux. PC gaming is not exclusive with Windows nor does Microsoft profit from PC gaming. The only way Microsoft profits from PC gaming is when they release their own games for the PC (Halo, Age of Empires, Microsoft Flight Simulator, etc.)

The thing with the PC platform is there is one large significance that most console gamers seem to ignore/fail to understand (not pointing you out, just an general opening statement) is that there is limitless freedom, to do anything you want. Sure, some things might not be easy, some might require knowledge of coding languages, but you can do almost literally /anything/ you want with whatever. Games might be coded to run best on windows (not made FOR, else it would only run on windows), but you /can/ run games on other operating systems. Results vary from game to game but it can work.
Nothing is standard in the PC world, not even the software. That's why it is so versatile.
