No single company owns the PC platform. This is an extremely simple concept, that nobody seems to understand.Skittles_McGee
See those PC vs Mac commercials. Who do you think PC is refering to? Hint: It's Microsoft

No one owns the PC platform, that's why indie developers keep popping up like mushrooms on the PC. Because they don't have to pay any royalties to the platform they're developing on unlike consoles.

But PCs are synonymous with Microsoft. That's a fact. Can't really deny this.
Why does Microsoft release company owned IPs on PC when Sony doesn't do this? It's because Microsoft = PC.

Where's Halo 3?
I think it'll come out eventually. Until everything can be sold on 360. Halo 2 came out years after Xbox. MS knows Piracy will occur.

Gee, is it really? You mean more people use Windows than other OS's? Thats a shocker. However. Windows is not essential for gaming on a PC. And if you own a PC, you have Windows anyway, usually. In gaming, Microsoft gains nothing when it comes to Windows. No added sales, etc.[QUOTE="Bebi_vegeta"]

It took 1 year for HALO 2, people needed Vista. Seriously how long has it been since HALO 3 is out?
BTW selling used games are just as bad as piracy.

I'm sure I can play live games on a MAC... what does that mean :?
Um. Sony has their own online service on PC as well. Do you just ignore reality all the time or is this a rare exception?Live can be found on PC. PSN can't. Microsoft = PC.

Sony is 4th place in TV sales behind Samsung, Vizio, and Panasonic. LOL.
Can I play PSN games on my PC? No you can't. There are tons of Live enabled games on PC. Microsoft = PC.
Got any links to back up this claim of yours? There are probably rare exceptions but for 999 out of 1000 people in the real world. PC=Microsoft.

What the hell is wrong with you?? =| Do you even know what a PC is? When people think Microsoft they don't think they own PC, they think they own a so called Operating System named Windows. Go look up what PC even means... Microsoft doesn't own personal computers (ie. laptops, netbooks, desktops, tablet PC's, etc) Microsoft only owns software called Windows. Even then there is still the MAC OS and Linux as well. You can't say that Microsoft owns PC's just because they release more games for the PC than Sony or Nintendo. =| In the case of PC: Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo would be counted as all...3rd party developers for PC (I guess we could make PC a fourth player in this war of fanboys). But just so you know - only 1 out of 1000 people thing Personal Computer = Microsoft. Can you guess who that 1 out of 1000 is. =| 999 out of 1000 think Windows = Microsoft. So just leave it alone - you are just here to annoy people, because so far, i have yet to see an actual argument come from you. There are probably rare exceptions but for 999 out of 1000 people in the real world. most people think the great wall of china is the only man made thing you can see from space... but they're wrong. But 99% of the PCs run windows.crusadernmI have no idea how you're going to prove that. At most, Microsoft has 95% considering the marketshares of the other two companies. At the end of the day though PC =/= Microsoft.

Actually, Windows has about 87% of the market share, with Mac OSX and Linux having 5% and 1% of the operating System market.

Microsoft doesn't own the PC. Their Games for Windows Live flopped when they tried making people pay. Valve owns PC more than Microsoft does.Parasomniac
Which would change the PC landscape more if they got out of the business. Microsoft or valve. I rest my case.

valveif microsoft goes out of business, nobody will care, everyone will start using linux an the world will keep spinning
if valve goes out of business steam goes down, the majority of the pc community will lose their connection to each other and pc gaming will be set back at least a decade

undeliable proof to defeat the TC that macs are infact pcs
I believe the TC used the wrong term for what he's trying to get across. All computers are Personal Computers. It's the operating system that counts. And Microsoft makes Windows. It doesn't matter if they get paid for games made on it or not. It's still a Microsoft operating system that the games are made for.MPHhunterno, no they aren't infact most games nowadays have compatibility for linux and mac as well as winows

But those PC games can be played on either Mac (but not many ) or Linux. PC gaming is not exclusive with Windows nor does Microsoft profit from PC gaming. The only way Microsoft profits from PC gaming is when they release their own games for the PC (Halo, Age of Empires, Microsoft Flight Simulator, etc.)

Sure, some things might not be easy, some might require knowledge of coding languages, but you can do almost literally /anything/ you want with whatever. Games might be coded to run best on windows (not made FOR, else it would only run on windows), but you /can/ run games on other operating systems. Results vary from game to game but it can work.
Nothing is standard in the PC world, not even the software. That's why it is so versatile.
