http://kotaku.com/5513596/microsoft-points-now-sold-in-more-reasonable-batches I am truly amazed every time Microsoft upgrades everything such as their services. Now available are more reasonable batches and increments of Microsoft Points. You can not do this with PSN cards. Sony only have increments of $20 and $50. Microsoft is the best in the business of business, they are the leader and what these other gaming companies look up to in my reality of things and educated opinion.

There are 10 dollar PSN cards also. Plus if you are using a credit or debit card on your PSN account you dont have to buy points to buy something, you can pay the exact price of the item, the only limitation being it has to be 5 dollars or more, if its less then 5 dollars you have to put 5 dollars on your account.

I don't get that. You use them to buy Arcade games, DLC, expantions, etc. The points system itself is pointless (lulz), i.e. why not just use real money.

This. The only reason for the point system is to buy more than what something actually costs (in points), have left overs, making so the user doesn't want points just sitting around and either buy something else (if they have enough) or buy even more points. It's a shame, and I think a bad system from the consumers perspective. Keep in mind I am a XBox 360 player...

Funny, I haven't noticed having to use increments of $20 and $50 on my PS3. I buy something that costs, say, $13.27, I will pay exactly that.

Not really though. I mean, people still see the 800pts for e.g. as $10, $1200pts as $15, etc. Developers sometimes don't even bother with stating the points and just say the price in money not points.

finalstar2007
wouldn't you hear that all forms of online currency are pointless? As for that TC yes the ps3 can do that, they could easily do it..since they don't have too the only failing psn pricing has is the required 5 dollar purchase other then that you can buy games spot on. though I personally have had few problems with microsoft points but then again Im smart I went out and found ways to purchase points in ways I didn't have to overspend or have left over points, this is likely happend because Zune marketplace has far better point increments and xbox live didn't match and alot of people me personally and those I told to do it would download the zune marketplace app and buy our points there cause it offered better increments. I'm glad microsoft finally got around to listening.

You can spend real money on PSN. You can't spend real money in Xbox Live. I can buy something on PSN using the exact dollar value of the product, with no change.

Well, they are being sued because of the old points system, right? Wasn't that a headline earlier this year?

It's good news regardless, but I can't wait for the system to be scrapped in favor of just buying what I want, that would be so awesome.:P

This is good news and a great option. I never and don't like using credit cards or debit cards to buy virtual items so buying $5 bucks worth of MS points is good for me whenever I need it. Also I still don't get why some people still say you can buy virtual items and downloadable content on the PSN with the exact price. You can't. If you have $0.00 balance in your PSN wallet, try buying a virtual hat or whatever in Playstation Home that cost $.49 cents, and tell me if you can, even if you use a credit or debit card. You can't. Even if you buy a $20 PSN card from the store and buy something in the PSN store that cost $19.99, you will have one cent left over because there's hardly any items that cost exactly $20, most items ends with $.09 cents. Also I like the MS point system because you can get 1600 way cheaper than $20. I haven't seen a sale for a $20 PSN card yet.

EDIT: i never understood the whole frustration with MS points. well i cant honestly say that, i hated the online increments for sale but aside from that i dont really mind using them. i mostly bought 1600 points anyway when i do so everything kinda worked out....until zune came out. then i started to use my points to buy music and my whole system went out the window.....zune was my downfall :(

It's a lot better than what MS does. I'm fine with their prepaid cards, but the online offerings are crazy. Things are in 1000 point increments when items are sold in 400 point increments.

RadecSupreme

that is total bs. MS points have always been 80 points per dollar. that has never changed. as for psn cards, if you try to buy something on psn for $19.99 with a $20 psn card, you can't because sony charges taxes for EVERY item sold. Ms only charges taxes for buying points, not dlc, game add-ons, tv shows or movies.

lol not at all.

the most they do is make you buy increments with credit cards, which is more of an attempt to reduce credit card transactions. the same thing Nintendo has been doing with their network.

the biggest scam is that they use their system to fool people who fail at general math. if they deserve it or not, that's for them to figure out.

The whole point system is very stupid imo. I love the PSN cards because I know exactly how much Im getting and how much I will have left after a purchase. MS and Nintendo should both drop their point sytems and just use actual cash amounts for the cards.
