Microsoft says used games will work on Xbox One

"NEW YORK -- Microsoft says its upcoming Xbox One gaming console will be able to play used games, clearing up a worry among gamers and video game retailers such as GameStop, which trade in used games.

That means video games discs users buy will not be limited to one Xbox One device, and players can share or trade in the games they have bought for other used games, just as they have been able to do in the past.

Microsoft Corp. said in a blog post Thursday it will not charge a fee to retailers, publishers or gamers for transferring their old games.

Separately, Microsoft says the Xbox One, which goes on sale later this year ahead, will need to be connected online at least once every 24 hours to work.

The whole 24 hour thing is excessive, but the ability to play used games is a plus.

Well I'm sure this part of their messaging on used games is trustworthy and can be taken entirely at face value. Disregard the 19 other ways they have responded to this.

So if I buy a disc based game on Xbox One, can I just loan it to a friend? Won't the game still be installed to my Xbox One?

I won't buy regardless of what they do. They clearly only making small concessions because of the fear of a severe ass kicking later this year.

Still isnt worth $500 when im not going to use half of the features it has. I wil get a one after a price drop or a black friday sale or somethingnavyguy21

Microsoft better get this news everywhere as fast as they can. Damage is likely already done but maybe they can mitigate at least some of it if they PR the hell out of this.

EDIT: Actually this is the only source I can find for this anywhere. Either no one else knows about it or it may not be accurate. Either way that's not good news for MS right now.
