[QUOTE="superclocked"]Read the OFFICIAL xbox site very carefully.. http://news.xbox.com/2013/06/license "We designed Xbox One so game publishers can ENABLE you to trade in your games at PARTICIPATING retailers." "Xbox One is designed so game publishers can ENABLE you to give your disc-based games to your friends." So, according to Microsoft, used games will not natively work on the XBox One. The publisher must first enable the ability, and then you must go through an official reseller in order to sell the game...TorqueHappens08

But what about greedy publishers who despise used game sales?

That was his entire point, captain slow.

It's not hyporcisy. Most pathetic lemmings desperately need to use that "hypocrisy argument" as ammo, because they really have absolutely nothing left after Sony's wollaping left hook.

I personally was pissed when they announced a pay service and I don't care to pay for online, even on my 360. Hell I rarely even play online at all.

But there's more value in what PSN+ has to offer, more so than Gold.

Trail_Mix
No it clearly is hypocrisy when a majority of people sit there and argue and claim they WILL NEVER PAY for ONLINE on A CONSOLE and then when their console now requires payment actual sit there and say oh it has value. Please

Even so that doesn't invalidate that the service being provided, as of now, has better value.

It doesnt matter and thats not my point at all. Please everything that MS had last gen and provided for $50 didnt matter to any cows none of it did, now all of a sudden it does? All the extra crap that you got didnt matter they just saw it as you are paying to play online, please just stop.

In the end, it's all up to the Publisher, where as PS4, it's all up to the consumer.

I'm not familiar with the other benefits that were accommodated to users who paid for Xbox Live other than being able to access online itself. I was just given the impression that online was the only thing that mattered to those users.

[QUOTE="VERTIGO47"]

  • $500 is too much
  • $60 Gold is less valuable than $50 PSN+
  • That article isn't specific enough to convince me to buy one

VERTIGO47

By the amount of speedy conclusions and rabid hate based on little information that has been happening on this forum, I doubt any of you would consider buying one ever.

How bout speedy conclusions and rabid LOVE on XBOXONE. A vast majority of gamers out there think the system is a sad joke. But rabid Lemmings who gargle and swallow Bill Gates' semen are hard to be convinced.

No, honestly, it's not that bad and at least they are innovating.  You guys are so backwards you can't see it, but Sony is just standing still.  Admittedly, it sounds bad, and there are things I don't like about the X1 policies, but it's all been done before.  And why is ass-rape and semen brought up so much lately in the X1 hate?  Are you all secretly homo-erotic?  And if that's so, then PC gamers have been cum-guzzling Gabe Newall for a decade with steam.  Honestly, the bonus of the cloud and 300,000 dedicated servers, and 2 free games a month, having a game that can be played with a voice-command instead of a disc is the future.  And unlike steam, you can buy used.  It really is streamlined.

Only negative I see so far is connecting every 24 hours, I don't like that.  Unnecessary.

"NEW YORK -- Microsoft says its upcoming Xbox One gaming console will be able to play used games, clearing up a worry among gamers and video game retailers such as GameStop, which trade in used games.

That means video games discs users buy will not be limited to one Xbox One device, and players can share or trade in the games they have bought for other used games, just as they have been able to do in the past.

Microsoft Corp. said in a blog post Thursday it will not charge a fee to retailers, publishers or gamers for transferring their old games.

Separately, Microsoft says the Xbox One, which goes on sale later this year ahead, will need to be connected online at least once every 24 hours to work.

The Associated Press"

The whole 24 hour thing is excessive, but the ability to play used games is a plus.

EDIT

Just read this article completely. It doesn't confirm (or deny) anything that we don't already know. Even before Microsoft's E3 PC we were told that used games sold by retailers that Microsoft dictates would work. It says nothing about loaning a game to a buddy and then my friend being stuck with that game.

Also, this is a local news source. Why use this and think people would take it seriously? Why not find a source within the gaming community?

You know...it's good if "used games will work on Xbox One", but I don't really even know what that means. What is the procedure for doing so, what are the steps and conditions involved? One of the things turning me off from the X1 isn't the fact that it's restrictive, but that so many comments from Microsoft were so vague and/or contradictory and/or confusing that I honestly don't really know what the f*** any of this $hit even means. It's like I would have to have studied to be a lawyer in order to know what's what. And as a casual gamers who just freaking wants to play games, that's a big turnoff. Console gaming has typically always been about SIMPLICITY, and all of this confusion and complication just makes my head hurt. Don't get me wrong...it's good if "used games will work on Xbox One", but I don't even know what the hell that means. Microsoft should have done a much better job of making its policy as clear as possible. Even if all of the "attacking used games" stories and reports were misguided and wrong, that kind of thing has a negative effect. If it becomes clear that the X1 is in fact totally user friendly without such horrible anti-consumer features, then there's a very good chance that by the time MS's policy is clear I'll have already lost the interest required to find out exactly wtf they even mean.

This isn't a shift in policy.  This is some local news station with a tenuous grip on the situation.  They are referring to information from the Thursday before E3, and say so in the report.

You can play used games, if the publisher allows them to be sold in the first place, yes.  And that copy can't be lent or resold, due to the one transfer per copy restriction.  Just as MS has detailed on their site.

I feel like the source is highly inaccurate. It's very vague and doesnt explain all the caveats associated with utilizing used games. You would think that if MS opened up their used game policy every video game website would be reporting it. I would be surprised if this wasnt merely a case of the writer misunderstanding MS's comments, or MS just being purposely vague as to confuse

Yeah, it's a local TV station doing a report on the "Hot Topic" of the XBone situation, without a deep understanding of what the issues even are and using information almost a week old when they published their report.

There's nothing to see here.

This is misleading. You can only sell used games once and only to selected retailers. You can't sell it to a friend or lend it to a friend or sell it on ebay or rent games.
