PS3 & Xbox360 are competing in the same market - High Definition / Online Gaming / Media Centre.
Wii Cheap simplistic fun / shallow gaming.
PS3 / 360 cannot compete with the Wii because its a different end of the market, so naturally Microsoft is going to try and kick Sony out, so they have the High Definition Gaming & Media Centre monopolized....?
Wii is popular, but many people WANT great graphics , in depth dames and a good online, the numbers will be less because its more expensive, thats the way everything works..
Wii numbers =I important as you may think to Micro/Sony
How does wii sales effect MS really?
More games are sold on 360, wii does not battle 360 in the media living room war, devs arent going to leave 360- cause like i said it sells to many games.
PS2 selling 100 million units compared to 25 million for 360 is about the biggest blow that can be done to MS and yet it failed to stop them from moving forward.
wii is a toy to ms.
That's Micro$oft faking their superiority with an arrogant tone. It's the same thing Balmer said about the iPhone. It's not really a competitor to M$ line of products.
Balmer = :roll:
I'm not a big fan of the Elite, but I wouldn't go so far as to say that this is indicative of Microsoft ignoring Nintendo. In fact, MS has said time and again that the major threat this generation is not Sony, but Nintendo.
I think MS sees the Wii like many of us here see it--as an intriguing buy which will become less interesting as time goes by. I'm still not ruling out a price drop on the core (or premium for that matter) around the Christmas time frame. However, if you had Halo 3 waiting in the wings, wouldn't you want to skim the market a bit from the millions of eventual 360 owners waiting for this title to hit stores?
Price drops can be a blessing or a curse. Two years after release seems like a long enough period of time to show confidence in the 360 and early enough in the unfolding generation to penetrate the market further. We'll see in due time.
things like this happen. while microsoft and sony fight it out, nintendo is clearly going to win the hearts of gamersRahnyc4
your are like nintendo you only think about gamers, thats nintendos only goal- to make games and profit.
MS and Sony is trying to control all of your media needs. thats why wii is no threat. they could sell 10 billion wii's. but MS will still have made more money from xbl gamers and will have had more movies downloaded from the marketplace.
thats MS goal.
Because N's longevity is already coming to an end. MS is looking towards the future and its heavier opponent, Sony.NobuoMusicMaker
MS' Game Division has lost money every year since the XBOX launched - more than $5 billion in total. Given their incompetence, why ask why?Number_1_Gamer
Wow, Microsoft gave up 5 billion dallors just so us hardcore gamers could have some quality games to play?
That's very generous.

Yea, Sony and MS are not concerned AT ALL with profit.    at you.Makes sense to me. If there are three stranded fighting over food, killing off the weakest one will give more food to the other two.
Besides, Nintendo doesn't want to take over the home entertainment division like Sony does; that's why Microsoft got into consoles in the first place, if you remember.

Micro$oft doesn't innovate, they look at something they want, and go for it. You can spin that however you want, but it's basically a lame way to conduct business. They're not pushing culture, they're stiffling creativity.
Nintendo is amazing at what they do.

It depend on what you depict Innovation as.
To me XBL is a much bigger innovation then Motion Sensor.
But that's just my opinion.

Nintendo is an amazing innovator. However, I'm not going to take anything away from MS either--they brought us a unified online experience with Live--fully integrated friends lists, matchmaking, and the whole nine. Also, I love achievements---they add a whole new element of competition among friends and the like.
MS does not stifle creativity--it isn't out there dictating what publishers can and cannot do. Come on now.
Xbox & Microsoft- trying to bring PC gaming to the living room, hasnt quite succeeded this gen, even if they pull out after 10 years due to stock share decrease, they have the PC Platform to dominate.
Wii + Microsoft , now put those 2 together, when Microsoft moves further into "Household entertainement" and the Wifi becomes cheap and standard, using a Wii like controller for using PC functions to replace mouse i nthe living room, would be the first step to the end of consoles, no need for them then.
Although thats probably a long way off.
PS3 brings? Expensive gaming (Everything about Sony is expensive) with no PC backup ....
Long term innovation ftw.

I see you have an Ice Hockey signature, so I'll go easy on you. But what sales figures are you looking at that makes you think Nintendo's longevity is coming to an end? All sources indicate that Nintendo is upon a new beginning--like it or not.
I'll get a Wii eventually, then probabally a PS3 when it gets rumble back.

yes they like profit but on a bigger scale.
MS much rather win the livingroom media battle than to sell 80 million consoles. in the end the payday is bigger.
sheep think MS and Sony is trying to be like nintendo yall think they want to come in makes games sell units and call it a day. well youre all wrong. Sony and MS wants every dime they can get from you anyway they can get it.

Wiggling your controller is just annoying to me,
but then again, thats my opinion.
Nintendo is targetting a different consumer, meanwhile sony and microsoft are mostly targetting the "hardcore" gamers.Krigon
Exactly. With the Elite, a HDMI built-in for HD gaming and a 120gig HDD for movies, music, and games. The Wii is targetting towards casual gamers

Exactly. Judging by everything Nintendo is putting out they are going for non Gamers. I mean the Myimato (spelling) dude from Nintendo runs everything By his "wife o Meter" to judge the quality of his Wii Products. Who cares what his wife likes, also if you notice every commercial it is familys playing. I never have and also never want to play video games with my parents or whole Family. How Lame. I have always looked at video games as kind of cool and rebelious. Well Nintendo wants you to play with your Grandma. That is just not for me.
Why should they? It sells like hotcakes, sure, but what comes out on the 360 can't come out on the Wii in the same way. With the PS3, you've got some graphical competition, a console that is able to handle high-budget nextgen graphics games, just as the 360 does. So, if you've got a major 3rd part game coming out on the 360, there's always the chance that it can go to PS3 as well, because the PS3 can handle it.
The Wii, however, doesn't have that graphical element. A game coming out for 360 would have to be toned down a great deal to be able to run on the Wii, and then you have to take the controller into account.
