Bestbuy, Walmart, they keep having TV commercials making games look like they're ONLY for 360 with their "360 is the best way to play" slogan. Not only stores but websites too.

lol, they learn from Sony lol. Sony did the same thing all last gen, and they do it this gen. Why is it that people only point stuff out when MS does it, but sweep it under the rug when sony does it??Bestbuy, Walmart, they keep having TV commercials making games look like they're ONLY for 360 with their "360 is the best way to play" slogan. Just pulling out of your. . .air.In many regions, (Europe for example) if people know there is a PC version for a 360/PC game, the 360 version will sell terribly.
Hence they do everything they can to avoid that; timed exclusivity and misleading advertising are two key tools.

Sony has done this multiple times. The most recent example being Assassin's Creed II. It is a good marketing strategy.SparkyProtocoluntil the get to the store and see that it is for other console as well

From Microsoft themselves actually:
Q: Which format is your priority in Europe? You have these big Xbox 360 titles such as Mass Effect, but they don't see release on the PC until six months after the console release. Why don't you go for a simulataneous treatment on these titles?
Peter Zetterberg: On a global scale the Windows Vista business is as important as our Xbox 360 business. But in Germany for example, we want more gamers to buy our Xbox 360. If we launch a game that is on 360 and PC simultaneously, we basically shoot ourselves in the foot by allowing the German market to choose to play the PC version – because they are more likely to buy that than spend their money on the Xbox 360. On a global scale the PC is very relevant to us. And I would say that 90 per cent of the games that are pitched to us are on console. We're strongly perceived as a console publisher because we're the first-party publisher even though the Windows operating system is equally important to us. If we launched a Halo game on PC and 360 in Germany simultaneously, 80 per cent of sales would be on the PC. So we need to pick and choose our formats.
Q: So you're admitting that the Xbox 360 is the priority, because you don't want to lose console sales.
Peter Zetterberg: No, they're equally important. The PC has a much wider use, it's so established, it's so dominating already so in some territories we need to make the games for the 360 to increase the sales there.

ok, but germany doesnt equal all of europe dude lol Notice their interviewing the business manager for Microsoft Europe? The fact he gives Germany as an example doesn't mean this only occurs there. Hell, the PC is a more widely played system even in the USA.lol, they learn from Sony lol. Sony did the same thing all last gen, and they do it this gen. Why is it that people only point stuff out when MS does it, but sweep it under the rug when sony does it?? Because people have a stronger bias against Microsoft. Most of us have been convinced that Microsoft is some evil corporation that doesn't care about anyone or anything except making money... Oh wait. That IS the essence of Microsoft?[QUOTE="Merc009"]

Because from my point of view, he named germany because it was relevant. Any other countries are left up to the readers interpretations, but interpretation is not proof that ALL of europe is PC centric. I think Software sales on both PS3 and 360 in all of europle supports my point that the rest of europe plays consoles, where is your evidence that they are PC centric? From Microsoft themselves actually:

Secondly, I critically read my own article. Zetterberg was asked what his priority IN EUROPE was, so if he gave a singular example (Germany) that was a unique case, his answer would not be logical. His example only makes sense in the context of the question he was asked if it was the rule, not the exception.
Furthermore, he concluded by saying the PC was "dominating already so in some territories" indicating this strategy was not just applied to Germany, but several theatres.
Thirdly, retail software sales are wholly inadequate for comparing European preferences for platforms, because the PC has no central authority collecting this information. Europe, like North America, has a very advanced internet infrastructure, and services like Steam and Direct2Drive are very popular.
