It amazes me how lemmings keep attacking and doubting Blu-Ray technology while Microsoft is preparing secret deals with Sony to embrace the amazing storage capability that Blu Ray offers.

This proofs that Blu-Ray is absolutely necessary to enjoy a true, next-gen, high definition experience.

Well it's THE next data and movie format so people need to just get over their stupid fanboyism and accept it. Probably all the next consoles will use it (with more layers and faster read speeds of course).

Well since Xbox games still look good on HD DVD, I wouldn't say its the true experience, sure people haven't exactly tapped into the power of Blu-Ray but as a gaming console, Xbox 360 is standing strong, excluding the problems.

Man, I can't believe that rolled out of my tongue, maybe I should just shut up :l

lol secret deals? first off i must say that avatar is great you picked only the 3rd kraziest kenny type exec at sony to use.

But yeah secret deals? lol its not secret its well known.

And needed? um no its not been proven as needed at all for a game yet, and the only reason its needed for movies is resolution and uncompressed sound in movies and by the time it is truely needed for a game system, the next xbox will be out in the next 2-3 years and it will have a faster blu ray drive then the ps3 lol.

By talking of possible deals with Sony to use its technology. That contradicts former statements that Blu-Ray is not the winner or necessary for gaming.

It's in the news section.

Blu-ray has nothing to do with a true, next-gen, high definition experience, you can do the same on any storage format. Whats funny is the PS3 has to use the hard drive so a game will load fast enough, the Blu-ray drive is to slow! I purchased a 20 gig model and already had to upgrade the HDD because of running out of space.

Lets see..before launch of 360...microsoft said this exactly!

If blu ray becomes the dominate movie format we will support it.

Last year...If blu ray becomes dominate """MOVIE""" format then they will support it.
Oh and they are in talks with sony? sony owns blu ray? really...someone better tell panasonic, sharp, hitachi, philips...ect the guys that formed the Blu ray association with sony..oh and sony with PIONeer created the format...hmmm

Kojima san already stated that not even Blu-Ray is enough to store his amazing vision and creativity.Microsoft can't afford to release another console so soon.

High definition requires absurd ammounts of storage and Blu-Ray will prove it sooner than you think.

Lost Odyssey requires 4 discs. A game released 2 years after the 360 was on the market.

LOL you sidestepped every thing else i said because you have no answer oh and kojima? creating a game in an none AAA franchise using massive uncompressed audio 1% of the human population can take advantage of, and likely CGI high def cutscenes, high def resolutions in games are not dependent upon disk size only high resolution movie is dependent upon this.

No one said it wasnt necessary for gaming, they said it wasnt necessary for gaming THIS gen. Which I agree its not for the most part. Sure it would make some JRPG's able to be on 1 disc, but since they are linear it doesnt matter. By the time we start seeing most games hitting the peak of DVD9's it will be time for the next gen consoles. Anyway I don't see the point of bashing Blu-ray since it will be the future of media unless there is some mass adoption of digital distrubution which I dont see happening. Overall the talk between Sony and MS doesnt effect the 360 owners except maybe those who will want an external drive to play movies.

Actually LO has like 6 different languages on the disc so that is one of the main reasons it takes up 4 DVD's.

Im not talking about MS Im talking about the "360 fans" you are talking about. Sony has used Blu-ray as an outlet to get more sales via movie fans not so much to get gamers. The extra space is a good thing to have since developers dont have to even think twice about more space, but like I said right now its not needed for games for the most part.

Both BluRay technology and PS3 benefit each other. PS3 helped Blu win the format war now BluRay is boosting PS3's sales.

A masterful plan.

TC sounds an awefully lot like Mastercharged or KeyWii.

Either way, blu-ray is rediculous and not needing for gaming anytime soon. You can spend several hundred hours playing Oblivion on DVD-9 and the devs are talking about how Fallout 3 is going to have alot more packed on screen, leaving Oblivion in the dust visually. All on DVD-9.

Both consoles are taking a backseat to the Wii, and perhaps will for the remainder of this gen. Tells you right there how mighty blu-ray is. Also Crysis after extraction can still fit onto a DVD. This game MELTS the PS3! Do you think the PS3 could ever attempt this game with no loss in quality and level design? If you do, I declare you insane and need to submit yourself in the looney bin.

Blu-ray for the most part has been been overhyped by Sony. Yes, it will probably replace dvds later down the road (not any time soon though) but really I'm glad it's not mainstream yet because it appears to the the downfall of everything.. a downward spiral if you will. Only thing worse is the mental patients who constantly worships the format!

It belongs because is most likely that MS will use a BluRay add on for its 360 or 720.

The market is not ready for digital distribution. As long as there's a predominant physical form of digital distribution it won't matter the amount of HDD space.

HD-DVD games? Are you high?

It amazes me how lemmings keep attacking and doubting Blu-Ray technology while Microsoft is preparing secret deals with Sony to embrace the amazing storage capability that Blu Ray offers.

This proofs that Blu-Ray is absolutely necessary to enjoy a true, next-gen, high definition experience.

by your logic, blu-ray has surroundered to microsoft first since blu-ray used microsoft technology (vc-1) before the war was even over. LOL you should really study and learn before opening your mouth

Yes, it will last a while. Digital Distribution is a while off to be standard. I don't know anyone over 60 that knows how to get a copy of The Orange Box through DD, but I know they could look at Best Buy for a copy. And nobody, "Surrendered", there is no actual, "War", unless you're 14 and take this forum seriously....

 the "power" of blu-ray LOL !PS_Family

Its power crushed HD-DVD in the format wars.

this is not format wars... this is system wars

It belongs because is most likely that MS will use a BluRay add on for its 360 or 720.

And lemmings attack the PS3 of being a Trojan Horse.

The blu-ray player would be there for playing blu-ray movies only. It won't affect anything game related which is what system wars is about.
