Microsoft VP: Xbox Portable a matter of "when" not "If"

Would be nice. But, my PSP will do me good for years to come. Just wish there were more games for it.

If they ever did come out with an Xbox portable. I just hope it looks better then an Xbox and it has 2 true analog sticks. Because the stick on the PSP feels like it's going to snap when I use it.

Didn't Sony say something similar in the build up to the PSP?

Unless they can get original Xbox games on it (which is not going to be likely for a while) I don't think they'd have much to offer in the way of games ATM.

bad decision, normally the xbox crowd are the ones driving the car and not the ones sitting in the backseat on car trips to granmaws house.

If Sony drops out of the handheld market it will be in western regions only. The PSP is very popular in Japan, especially that new Diva game which has become a sort of mascot for the PSP among Japanese gamers.

Good, maybe is the psp gets some core competition we'll see the console devlop more quickly.

i think if MS released a handheld it would probably take away market share from the psp and not the DS. Even though I have a psp and I think its awesome, I think some more competition would always be good and force companies to make better games, lower prices etc. If MS could take away share from the DS by having some sort of touch screen function ...I guaranTEE that nintendo will drop the price of their overpriced hardware and games.

Do you not realise he's probably just talking about ZuneHD and the XBL services related to it?

It better not just be another PsP, I don't know what they could do to make it stand out.

Well, the only reason the PSP is currently actually still in the handheld market is due to the Playstation brand being recognized around the world.

The Xbox is not as recognized as Playstation, so it'd be pretty hard for MS to jump into the portable market, and compete especially against the likes of Nintendo.

There's no room for MS. The only reason we'll see Sony continue on in the handheld business is because the PSP has been successful in Japan. And there's no niche left for MS to fill. They should just continue to make cheap consoles.

Just like with regular consoles, MS will eventually push Sony out of the handheld business. It'll be MS vs. Nintendo vs. Apple (iPhone and, hopefully, a console in the future) from that point on.

I'd say the only reason we're going to see continued handheld support from Sony in the west is because they're hopeful after taking a chunk of Japan.
