They will win the next one.

There are still way too many PS2 users that most casuals still look at the PS3 as their next sytem.

Unfortunatelly for Sony, they can't seem to keep the same momentum rolling and things have cooled of.

They have lost a TON on exclusives which defined their system and current PS3 users are clearly disapointed because the system is failing to deliver.

When the next generation comes around they will look beyond the Playstation Brand and give all 3 manufactures a fair shot to being their system of choice.

(PS: NO I DO NOT HAVE A CRYSTAL BALL, THIS IS JUST OPINION!!!)

There are 100 million PS2 users out there. Sony is bound to get a lot of them back. Just on name recognition alone.

I don't know how it will all shake down in the end. If the systems reach parity in pricing I wouldn't be suprised to see the Playstation3 catch up and then pull away from 360. It will do far better in Japan and possibly even Europe than the 360.

Microsoft did screw up the Hardware which sets them back a lot. But they have such good software going for them, that most people are willing to look past that.

It has to do with them saying the third time is bad luck,i.e Stating Sony will fail the third time like Nintendo did their third time. Next-gen,it will be Microsoft's third time out :)

But wouldn't that directly interfere with the current stream of topics on how Microsoft have won this gen? Thus, making our previous claims of them not doing so accurate?

I saw quite a lot of Microsoft supporters claiming Ps3 will fail because it's Sony's 3rd time out. I wish I has screen capped it then.

Eh true enough. I don't really count PC though since it doesn't have to resell itself every few years :P Just buy some new parts. Once you get a PC you pretty much always have one. The same can not be said of the consoles. It might be a fairer comparison if we took total sales of every console made by each manufacturer.

microsoft will never win a generation, ever. you can quote me on that i could care less to be honest cus it is true. the xbox brand is unpopular outside of NA, its slightly popular with america's BFF the UK, then when you start going down the list it goes downhill fast. the xbox brand didnt popularize itself worldwide last gen, and in one year without competition and almost a 2nd year with almost none as the other systems didnt have the time 360has had to build a library of games, the brand has failed to reach the worldwide audience as it hoped and failed to diversify their library. go down the list of million sellers on 360 and you can tell the crowd the brand appeals to, hardcore gamers. what sells on the xbox brand? shooters and sports for the most part, after 2 years and after some attempts to get a more diverse library the fanbase is not having it, they want what they want, shooters and sports.

both the playstation and nintendo brands have proven worldwide appeal more than once, and the xbox brand has failed to do so after 2 attempts and this is why they wont win a generation.

I will not disagree with you. But you just reinforced my theory. They are just starting to get the brand going. Sony and Nintendo have been around forever and MS is just starting.

If you think about it, they are doing an outstanding job at it.

Example: Capcom is on board. Konami is starting to show support. Project Slyphed is an exclusive Square Enix title for the 360...and so on. It will take a while though.

I agree 100% all the way. People are forgetting something very important nowadays:Never will a console win a generation with only 1 territory.Microsoft clearly have an advantage in NA,but that's it.In Europe, they are nowhere near as popular as they are in the States,in Japan, they are not even ruffling feathers.Heck, even in India and South Africa,Microsoft have yet to capture the large gamer crowd that exists in those territories. I have said this once, and will say it again:If people believe Microsoft will succeed with only NA,then they are in for brutal realization.

Wow nice logic there bud....I wonder how the playstation1 come upon beating the nintendo brand, when the nintendo was alot well know in the gaming industry then playstation was when it first launched! And dont try using Sony as a brand that was well known around the world....I'm pretty sure Microsoft (windows) is being used everywhere in the world..from alaska all the way to china!

btw word of advice : there is only 2 things in life that is certain and that is taxes and death!

2 things. The use of CDs over Cartridges, which were cool at the time. And the support of third party developers.

Actually,if you remember Xbox 1s launch, you would realize that Microsoft tauted the Xbox as the new Playstation, praised Nintendo for the GameCube and stated they were disappointed with what Sony had with the Ps2-and that they had the better machine to suit the Playstation 1 audience. They made the Xbox to try and take Sony's audience. Thus,if it weren't for Sony, there would be no Xbox.

True, but then Sega might still be around and making good games. Who knows, we might have even gotten a Panzer Dragoon Saga sequel. Oh well.
