Sony wony wont win this war with a $400/$500 system compared to a $199 starting point from rivals

360 will probably outsell ps3 for the year.

The PS3 price cut is supposed to come in March.  Yeap...right after November and December, March is the month of the year when most people exchange gifts and buy consoles.  That nasty 360 better watch out...come March of 09 the 130 million PS2 user base  is going to finally make the jump to this gen.:shock:

Yeah, you can say crappy online "compaired" to XBL, and you can say the price is too high for someone who doesnt have that type of money. IMO...the 360 should have been at $199.00. The PS3 is right on the money for the price with what comes "IN" the box when you get it. Bluray, Wifi, Web browser, and reliable hardware. That 199.00 360 doesnt even come with a hard drive, then you have to pay for XBL only to find out that you cant play most games online without a hard drive.

The bit about the crappy ports and the price are facts...the online part is an opinion (but I do think XBL is much better).

hey i have an arcade i can play games without and hard drive (gears 2,halo3, forza2..) and im happy with my $300 purchase back in feb. the only thing you need a HDD if you wanna play extra modes like in halo , gears or MMO's like FFXI

Bluray, Wifi, and a Web browser are not needed for gaming...and consumer are letting Sony know how they feel by not buyin a PS3.   Sure, the total package is a good deal, but I don't want to pay extra for features I don't want or need.   I just don't want to help Sony subsidise their new movie format.

i think microsoft messed up by not making a standard HDD on all models because there online is great and how are you supposed to download movies or games demos on a small hard drive........they tried to fix there mistake by making the new 60GB model and 120GB elite but how about all the people who already bought it

I stand corrected about the HDD part....I had a friend that bought the one without the Hdd and he couldnt play online without it. I thought you had to have it. As far as price....I dont see it as a big deal, some will. If its priced to compete with the 360....no.....but can anyone deny that its a bargain for its price?

and its not only SONY's new format Philips and Sony started two projects applying the new diodes: UDO (Ultra Density Optical) and DVR Blue (together with Pioneer), a format of rewritable discs which would eventually become Blu-ray Disc
